Publisher's Description
AOL Mail Client is a standalone e-mail application that can be accessed independently of its client software. It is designed to provide its members with more open e-mail access and a customized way to access their AOL e-mail. It has a three-paned tabbed interface, better handling of attachments and more management options to sort and group e-mail.

This is a BETA, is known to have problem, Why are ya people complaing that the software dont work ? of course is going to have problems, So before they are made final , they need to release it so people like you and me could tested and report any problem it may have,,,,
So wirtting a negative review about this software is just damn wrong.. is a BETA remember that..
Wait to the final is release, then complaint all you want, mock it , burn it do what ever you want, but wait for the final,., IF there is a problem with it, then report it to AOL beta central where they could fix the problem,
Oh one more thing, Is people here are succesfully getting the software install on their computer but not yours, Then i guess you might want to have a technician tak a look at it , cause if you knew how to fix the problem, then i guess you wont bother putting negative reviews about this software, expeciall when is a BETA software...

What is beta software?
After an initial round of in-house testing, software publishers often release new programs to be tested by the public. These pre-release versions are called beta software, usually denoted by a "b" in the version number, e.g., Netscape Navigator 2.0b5. Since the publisher couldn't possibly test the software under all possible conditions, it is reasonable to expect that wider use of the software may uncover problems that were not discovered during in-house testing. The publisher expects to be notified when users find such problems so that the program can be fixed before its official release.
In general, you should expect to run into bugs whenever using any piece of beta software. These bugs may range in severity from minor features that don't work to problems that cause your computer to crash. You should decide whether the benefit of new features in a beta program outweighs the risk of program instability before choosing to use a piece of beta software. You should also be aware that UITS will not have thoroughly tested beta software, nor will the software be guaranteed by its maker, so you should not expect the same level of support as you would receive for an official release version of the program.

Trendy Aol Bashers =A pathetic human with too much time on their hands.
The program is in beta .If you dont want to be a tester , dont download it . wait for the final release. I normally use thunderbird but this is worth a try .
i am testing all aol products to see who is lieng in this aol battle . I will have to say the bashers are .
This program is in BETA ... Test it , report bugs and move on until the final release .
Will you guys get a life already . This is to the bashers . I doubt any of you are the techis you claim to be and i can almost prove that you didnt test any of the aol products on this site ..

When I tried to download this I was taken to a registration screen. Not having an AOL account, I signed up, only to be told that 'this area can not be accessed by your account.'
After this, and my experiences with the Triton IM client betas, I am pretty unimpressed with AOL. No wonder everyone loves to bash them.
I won't be using (or, as in this case, trying to use) any AOL software again if I can help it.
From what I can see of the interface, it looks like more of the same old featureless, memory-and-cpu-hogging eye-candy crapware.
Edit: I usually don't like responding to other users' comments here, but to the reviewers immediately above and below: people don't bash AOL to be trendy, they bash AOL because their software is a dog.

Funny how you people say it sucks when you don't even try it. Just cause you have outdated computer's and poor skills or got TOS off AOL. Your just mad and say it sucks. 4.5 meg for a AOL mail program isn't bad at all. i only found mirror bugs with it. As for other's on here trying to say they know it all your full of BS.I was self taught about computers at the age of 5 and learned programming at the age of 7. i have beta tested and programmed more things than most and no I'm not a whacker like most of your irc nerds. I don't need to show off my skills like most of your people need to. so back off AOL if you don't like it there is no need for you to use it and keep bashing it like some immature 12 year old. grow up

If you want to have a battle of digital wits...let me know son. I figure out technical problems every day at my job and have since I was 8 years old. Dont take a test if you dont know at least some of the answers....boy.

I hope it doesn't come with spyware like their AIM. I never said I wanted to install viewpoint media player!
It does look nice! Is it always going to be just for AOL mail? What about pop support?
I give it a three because it often didn't start.

I like it and think it's a very small email client from AOL. i have used it and i will be looking out for future builds. For all you people who hate AOL, keep hating your just the nerds of the net and there is no changing your mind about anything AOL related.

I give AOL Mail Client a four...
One for AOL starting to kill the AOL Client off
One for the interface (kind of nice ya know)
One for effort alone in the application
and finally...
One for the client's functionality
It's not perfect, I think they could do a lot more by offering it to AIM Members and integrating AIM Mail for those who are not AOL Subscribers.

no pop support? and after install I got "the aol software cannot start correctly, error starting ee://aol/mailapp", sloppy. Anyway, they already have a decent standalone mail client, Communicator, that DOES support pop accounts too. And whats with awarding a 1 without even trying the app?

Really dumb horrible interface.
It's obvious that they don't have a clue how to make a good email client.
I mean in all seriousness the web based AIM Mail looks better and is easier to use than this client.
Plus It's a stupid WinZIP exe file when you download it and it uncompresses everything to a directory on your C:/ drive and you don't get a choice. Mine was called 42143a. Really nice.
I work with guys that can write better code than this.
