Publisher's Description
ASUS PC Probe is a simple utility that monitors vital information in the computer such as fan rototations, voltages and temperature. Additionally, it gives system information such as hard disk space, memory usage, CPU type and processor speed. It resides in the taskbar and provides audio warning through the PC speakers if certain thresholds such as temperature and voltage have been exceeded. If your system is overclocked, remember to raise the appropriate warning limits or face frequent warning pop-ups.

As santaclause said this is a very old version of the original PCProbe. PCProbe 2 has been out for quite a while now with a new version released this year that has Vista support. Can be downloaded from the ASUS ftp site. ftp://ftp.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/Utility/PC_Probe2

My asus probe shows 3.808V and it gives the out of threshold error. BIOS also gives the same value. I think it must be 3.3. Now I have to turn off my computer and wait. Could anyone help me with that? What can I possibly do?
stevember reviewed v2.23.06 on Dec 7, 2004
f**a your wrong the bios does have a load correct but not even close to an idle OS.
The bios will normaly report a lower temp, not counting looking when 1st boot from cold but on anmy restart.
Also please tell me when an OS is completly idle?
As for Asus Probe does the job perfect.
faja reviewed v2.23.04 on Nov 9, 2004
-Lord-, you're actually twisting it the other way around. The BIOS would actually report a higher temperature. It is not totally idle, it actually puts stress on the CPU.
Anyway, ASUS probe seems accurate enough.
Shadow Wing reviewed v2.23.01 on Jun 17, 2004
It may not be perfect, but it serves very well as a utility that provides farily accurate hardware readings. If you have an Asus board, you should be running this.
akulich reviewed v2.22.09 on May 10, 2004
This app always reads high on my voltages. I was worried until I went inside and meter tested the voltages. On the meter, perfect readings. In the probe software, my 12 volt signal is read as 13.4 volts. High on the other rails as well. So, dont put much faith in the voltage readings from this app.
-Lord- reviewed v2.22.04 on Jan 9, 2004
Well for starters, when you're in the bios, the absolute lowest power consumption is going on since nothing else is loaded. This would reduce the stress on the CPU and thus lower temps. Boot to the OS, and now you're talking about a load placed on the CPU... get it?
This program is excellent for Asus users that wish to stay on top of things in the day to day usage and trouble shooting of their mobo.
gplasky reviewed v2.22.04 on Jan 8, 2004
So can someone explain to me why there is a 10 degree difference in the CPU temp between this program and the BIOS? Is this typical, real or what? My BIOS says 37 and the program says 47. Yet the MB temp is correct in both.
Martyn007 reviewed v2.22.04 on Jan 8, 2004
Simple, Fast and provides relevant information.
I think the only thing that can be improved here is a new interface or a easily skinable interface. Anyone who has a Asus motherboard should get this free download. It is update quite regulary too but there is no noted changes.

Use MBM or Motherboard Monitor, a REAL program that has many more features than this. It has very good layout and all the settings/monitors you can adjust from temps to fan speeds, to voltages. You can set alarms for almost everything and it even has email/web alerts it can auto send. BTW, with a shutdown monitor, it even shut your system off if certain threshholds are reached.

I don't think their hardware is very good. the P4S8X is a really terrible piece of ShXt. after almost a year, they finally get the final (non-beta) bios up, which obviously cannot correct the hardware flaws...
The probe sometimes give me error message too.

The original program was very buggy, but these newer revisions are more stable. But then again Asus software always seems to be buggy.....at least the hardware is good.

Works outstanding with my motherboard ASUS A7N8X Deluxe
perplX reviewed v2.21.04 on Aug 23, 2003
This program is pretty average the interface is HUGE for what it does, and it drops a ton of dll's in the windows folder. But it starts up fairly fast and does what its suppose to. I prefer Speedfan because it uses less ram and screenspace but it does start up slower.
