Publisher's Description
Advanced HostMonitor is a network monitor program. You can create a list of jobs and tests in advance on a 'set and forget' basis. Among the many checks it can do, it can monitor any TCP service, ping a host, retrieve an URL, check the available disk space, and more. It checks network servers at regular intervals and takes pre-defined actions if a device does not respond. It can provide a visual and sound warning, send an E-mail message to a mailbox, pager or mobile phone, execute another program, etc. All this allowing you to respond to a problem before your users start to complain.

Great Product! I've tried a lot of monitoring software - HostMonitor is my favourite one.
I have been using Host Monitor since early version 3, and have never even considered changing to another product. It really could do almost everything i needed, using very small cpu and ram loading, at a very good price and with a very good support team. Concerning support... I have been delighted with the open communication channel that KS-Soft have put in place between the users and the developers. Great Product!

We had some problems with HostMonitor as well. We reported about problems to developers and...
- one problem was fixed in the same day(!!)
- another minor problem was fixed in next release (about week or two, not sure)
- third problem was Microsoft fault - bug in mgmtapi.dll that comes with Windows 2003.
I want to say this software is very good (may be not the best) and KS-Soft provides the best support I ever seen.
That's why I rated it 5
BTW We are using version 5.38 but I have tested 5.62 with new Remote Control Console. That's what we have waiting for, now Advanced Host Monitor is really enterprise level monitoring tool!
The only one more think I wish - ability to specify user permissions for each folder...

I'm using a precious 4.x version to monitor over 200 servers right now and it seems to be working fairly well so far. It is a resource hog though. %100 processor utilization is the tough part to swallow. UNC checks aren't totally accurate. Routers and switches are easily monitored as well as bordr routers. Simple server monitoring works with ease. Port check, SQL, MySQL and on and on. Autogenerated reports still don't work properly in this version, but Task Scheduler does what I need. Can't give it a 5, but no monitoring softwre should ever get a 5. Paging and alerting also works great.

I don't think it uses too much resources. Of course, if you want to test just one server from your home computer, you can install something more simple. But if you need to test hundreds different servers, routers, services, this program is perfect. It can monitor almost everything, also it very flexible and I like interface. In our case HostMonitor performs about three hundred tests every 10 min and works stable.

Looked good at first.
Uses too much resources, caused my pc to lag and freeze too. Annoying interface to be functionable.

I am using the 1.76 version of this software to monitor around 75 devices and its only using 5MB of RAM. Considering the benifit of hostmonitor paging the correct support staff and send me an e-mail I get to sleep easily when something goes wrong ;)

Wait a minute... "only" 8 MB of RAM??? That is a ridiculous amount considering that the only this this apps is doing is monitoring processes!! I have tried it several times now, and the fact that so much in GDI and System Resources are consumed by this app, not to mention the 8 MB of RAM, is enough to make me shiver.
Just a warning to the wise.

The more I use it, the more I like it. I can monitor the health of all my routers, switches, and servers. I can check for connectivity, disk space, file presence, etc. I have it monitoring about 95 devices on my Windows 2000 PC and it still only consumes 8MB of RAM and less and 2% CPU!

it's pretty gnarly. at first it looked like great with its various configurable options, but after some more invetigative work I noticed that upon launching the app a full 50% of my System and GDI memory spaces were being eaten by the app. Kill the app, and the memory was released again, only with what appeared to be a slight leak. Pretty lame indeed. Can anyone suggest a better process and server watcher?
