First class but make sure flagged issues are genuine as it can flag genuine programs/files as suspicious, but still a great product for cleaning up an infected PC !

great tool. i highly recommend using this in safe mode though in order to make sure everything it finds is successfully removed. however it will work fine running it on the desktop in "normal" boot up mode as well as it has never failed to remove anything on my end.

I like it!
Tool for removing tons of app-crap from many computers.
If you infected by PUP - you must use AdwCleaner.
But, don't forget - use it in a safe mode.
Respect.

I have a similar tale to relate from a couple weeks ago, Straspey, except I (unfortunately) did the cleaning. I threw everything at it, including AdwCleaner. It worked well.

Within days, they got it reinfected. I'm not helping them again, except to tell them to run AdwCleaner.

Straspey

Straspey reviewed v4.107 on Jan 8, 2015

Last week, a family member called in a panic because he went to some snarky website and the next thing he knew his computer was awash in hijacked browsers, popups and all sorts of stuff.

I told him to download this program, run it, and say "yes" to everything it wanted to clean.

He did it -- and his system was returned to its previous happy state.

Then guess what he did ?

He went right back to the very same website and got re-infected AGAIN -- the exact same way!

So he went back and ran AdwCleaner another time, and it saved him this time as well.

(sigh...)

You know what they say --

"Fool me once, shame on you --

Fool me twice, I'm an a s s h o l e."

Blaxima

Blaxima reviewed v4.105 on Dec 9, 2014

Scratch my previous review. It does do an update to a database but still removes the program and tells you to download the latest. If this were a MS product we would be condemning this behaviour.

Blaxima

Blaxima reviewed v4.102 on Nov 27, 2014

GREAT!! It would seem that I wasn't the only one who found the update system rather tedious. Upon first load it updates a database file.

Music4Ever

Music4Ever reviewed v4.102 on Nov 24, 2014

Does a good job of seeking out malware but should be used with caution as can flag some legitimate keys or folders as bad when they are OK, so check carefully what the program intends to delete.

Blaxima

Blaxima reviewed v3.308 on Aug 24, 2014

It's does a decent job but it's update system is a real pain. Rather than silently updating a definition file you are told to download the latest version of the program each time and the old is automatically removed. It has been updated 4x this month already.

-Lord-

-Lord- reviewed v3.211 on May 27, 2014

yes, I'm aware. But what it is good at doing is scouring the systems and cleaning junk files. Couple that with MBAM, and it's a pretty decent combination.

Nice try? don't troll. it's unbecoming.

I've been doing IT assurance and security for over 20 years, and have tested and used a number of programs like this one. I tried this one the other day on an infection that ccleaner, malware bytes, eset, and NAV were unable to detect and kill. This one did; fast and easy.

It's now in my digital toolbox of must haves. Get this.

Excellent program. One of my occasional clients had the "conduit" adware program, which surprisingly mcafee stinger/malwarebytes combo couldn't remove. After using ADWcleaner once and rebooting, malwarebytes removed the remnants.
3 cheers for ADWcleaner HoorahHoorahHoorah!

I tested this App the other day, but because It's par for the course I
didn't bother to review it. Soooooooo. 3* cos It's an alternative.

Here's a bit of a share for Noobs.
IF, you have tons of Apps either Installed or zipped on your C: drive, & Especially Collections of Apps stashed on External HDD's. Get an Application that will search for files inside Compressed files too. EG: (.Zip .Rar .Exe) etc.
NOW.. Do a search for this fella: ocsetuphlp.dll
You can safely delete every Instance of it. Send 'it to Hell.
It is the Gateway to "Open Candy" & is Usually packed into certain FreeWare to get Revenue via Advertising, which keeps Apps Free.
IF.. You find that (ocsetuphlp.dll) has gotten into some Installed proggy files on C: drive, I would seriously consider changing you A/v software.
Google or Wiki for Info ref O/candy...... Keep Safe..!! (~_^)

If you use this research thoroughly before deleting anything as you should with all such programs as it does flag legitimate files & registry entries as suspect.

Remax

Remax reviewed v3.000 on Aug 18, 2013

It is helpful... but it would be much better to allow commandline capabilities for unattended use.

Also... can you add the ability to launch the program in a way where we can specify specific files that the program does not force to close? For instance... if I am helping a client remotely it closes my remote connection.

Something like:
/Exclude:file.exe,file2.exe,file3.exe

@Output Overboard FYI - This program can really cause problems it still feels that for example::

Folder Found : C:\ProgramData\InstallMate
Folder Found : C:\Users\xyz\AppData\Local\PackageAware

Are suspect, they certainly are not & will cause problems if these folders are removed & will 'un-licence' several programs - Such as 'ExpressRip' & the graphics program 'FluidMask' both bought & legally licensed.

HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Extensions (several)

Are also suspect & neither are they, one of these is 'DoNotTrack' another 'Autoruns' - Actually everything this program finds is legitimate.

It also felt that 'iSyncConduit.dll) part of the 'Apple Mobile Device Support' (and in the Apple folder) is part of the Malware 'Conduit Search' once again it's not - Removing this will break iTunes (maybe that's a good thing though?)

Beware when using (bloody dangerous) ~

This has become a regular in my computer toolbox.
It's portable.
It's very fast.
Shows you what it finds and allows you to decide whether to want to go along with it or abort.
Removes Babylon, Delta and many other "cool" search bars completely.
To the French guy who made this... merci!

@Music4Never aka Input Overload

You never mentioned the so-called "fully legitimate files & or registry entries" - I wonder why? Don't try to play GOTCHA! with me.

And as to my not having an infection with ESET - it is true. I just helped a friend remove Delta Search from his computer with AdwCleaner. I've used it on a number of computers with no problems.

You like to review people here, not programs.

Doesn't make sense.

Music4Ever

Music4Ever reviewed v2.110 on Feb 4, 2013

@Output Overboard - My point was as your recent review on Eset showed you have never had infections (for 4 years) though in another review you were also using Norton at the same time (make your mind up) how did you come to the conclusion AdwCleaner removes (infections) 'stuff' as you have never had any? (penny dropped yet?)

BTW The tool-bars you mentioned are easily removed in 2 minutes without this program with ease.

My review stands, if you follow what this program says you will end up with problems & if you know whether the items it flags are OK or not you don't need it anyway. Looks to me you have read the blurb rather than used it.

Useless.

Edit: Your experiences are different to mine, I'm not going to continue a futile argument with an foolish amateur, you have fun using this program - I know you will have major problems at some point (not if but when) but that's just my opinion as are all my reviews - I do however always install all software I review on here as on all sites & make a very good living out of IT.

Music4Ever

Music4Ever reviewed v2.108 on Jan 26, 2013

Could be useful but it wanted to delete fully legitimate files & or registry entries - Use with great caution ~

Edit: After allowing the program to run & delete what it thought were harmful registry entries & or folders several programs were no longer registered or deleted, IMO this program is dangerous & should be avoided unless you are an expert & if you are you wont be using this program ~

@Output Overboard - Can you elaborate exactly which (stuff) infections this program found that Mbam missed? - Also in a review of Eset on Jan 16 2013 you said :

'I have never got a virus or any malware while using NOD32 on and off for the past 4 years'

Don't make sense?

Output Overboard

Output Overboard reviewed v2.108 on Jan 25, 2013

This program does what it says. Cleans stuff Malwarebytes leaves behind.
Awesome.

@ Input Overload aka Music4Ever

This gets rid of stuff like the world famous Babylon Toolbar and other potentially unwanted toolbars and hijackers. MBAM does nothing about these.
It shows you what it will remove BEFORE it removes it.

About ESET. I'm now using my new free subscription for Bitdefender Internet Security (rated #1 everywhere) and a full scan shows a clean machine.
