It stinks...bring back the free version. Try a little honesty and stop misleading people with the free version which no longer exists. Thirty dollars for what?? The voice is as dull and lifeless as your new design. Now that is my review...my second review, let's see if this one gets past your censors.

There's a japanese program that's a little hard to find but is completely free and extremely minimal in resources and download size that does just what this one does. I would even guess this program is based on the source code from that, since it has the exact same capabilities of the variables you can enter to be displayed in the clock tray, not a single added feature. Then they think someone would actually pay $19 for this, when someone else actually did most of the work for them, and for free? Also it's heavier in memory use than it would have. Bad product in all possible ways.

Boy, these other reviews are really old. Just go to the publishers site and get the free classic edition. I've been using it for a while now and it is unobtrusive and you can see what day it is in a glance.

I really like AlphaClock because you can customize what you want to display: date, day of the week, time, free memory... I also like the reminders: I have surprised my wife once letting her a nice message while I was traveling.

I like this clock! Its the only one I could find that would display the clock like I like. Thumbs up for me.
huppel reviewed v1.61 Beta 2 on Jul 26, 2004
I rate this clock only "2" because :
- the foolish price
- the stupid features like "speaking clock" & " reminders".
I like it on the other hand because it is the only clock that is able to display the ISO Week numbers.
I do not know how other reviewers in here compare clocks because I think that Alfaclock is way better than those mentined in the reviews.
I will however NEVER buy Alfaclock as long as it comes with this stupid speaking clock and reminder features.

$19??? You've got to be kidding! Try Tclock for free.

the only thing i need badly and i would pay for it is the longhorn style clock, with a CAPITAL number for the hour , followed by the minutes in uppercase in smaller font like the AM/PM suffix in lower case
just like in this photo

Dang man,
Don't give up your day job for this! A whopping $20's for this? Bro ... you have to be on drugs! $5 bucks might tempt a slew of uknowing fools, but don't come here with the attempt to make it to the big time! Next time, research the competition and do something that cannot be aquired by freeware!

Sorry, not worth $20. I think a fair price, if any, would be $2.50, and that's only if it didn't have a nag screen (and only if I needed this sort of tool, that is). You all know how to find much better, free alternatives that are much more customizable. Don't get greedy - it's a small, simple utility! 2 for your efforts though.
pluizebol reviewed v1.60 RC on Jun 27, 2003
According to my needs, the development of AlfaClock goes in the opposite direction:
I do not want all these add-ons, I just want an improved WindowsXP clock.
This means with weeknumbers in the caledar and the possibility to synchronise the computer clock over a dial-up connection. ALl the rest is useless, unneeded, unwanted.
The trial version with nagware is ridiculous: If one wants to try something, then let me doing it for 30 days without being nagged by old fashion reminders at every startup.
AlfaClock is not of interrest to me and it looks like it will never become.

I really wish the people that leave messages on this site would learn proper English, so annoying to try to decipher what these people are trying to say.
flyrainy reviewed v1.53 Beta 5 on May 14, 2003
I cann't believe it worth $20.You konw it unnecessary for your system. It will be good if it was free
Tinker reviewed v1.53 Beta 5 on May 14, 2003
I agree with many others here.... nice enough program, but not worth $20 --- especially when there are so many comparable free versions available.
emperor reviewed v1.53 Beta 4 on May 9, 2003
Well the layout isn’t that bad, actually I like, the functions are what you find on other free applications of the kind, or most of them. The lady’s voice is quite horrible, and I think 20 bugs are way too much for this product. On the whole it’s still not bad, but I wouldn’t pay for.
tvaccari reviewed v1.53 Beta 3 on May 2, 2003
This program is nice but its not worth $20. Why are you charging so much for this? Compare it to som of the free stuff out there and its just not worth it.
pluizebol reviewed v1.53 Beta 2 on Apr 28, 2003
Thanks to Thenetavenger for the hint about Simplypowerful.
A small clock : yes indeed, but it does not allow to see week-numbers in the tray (tgether with the time & date).
And it comes together with a whole bunch of other software that I do not need.
That makes it by far not as lite as you made us believe :-))
thenetavenger reviewed v1.53 Beta 2 on Apr 28, 2003
For those looking for a lighter version of a clock that uses almost no RAM or resources, check out www.simplypowerful.com they have a product called SPT Accessories Plus 2002 that has a skinable lite clock and also includes several other nice touches that Micrsoft left out of Windows. (Like making the PrintScreen (PrtScr) key really work.)
pluizebol reviewed v1.53 Beta 1 on Apr 26, 2003
Version 1.52 is very nice.
Week numbers are included, it shows nicely in the system tray without destroying the Windows XP theme.
I only whish there was a lite version : without talking clock and without the reminder thing.
Just the clock and the time-synchronization: that would maake me buy it.
Carlospr reviewed v1.53 Beta 1 on Apr 25, 2003
"On top" issue resolved!
Carlospr reviewed v1.51.6 on Apr 13, 2003
AlfaClock is a great software. It could address the calendar to stay "on top" other applications when activated. By the way, there is an option to show week numbers!
pluizebol reviewed v1.51.6 on Apr 13, 2003
The only thing that I am missing in the (double height) Windows XP tray clock is the week-number.
Meaning that AlfaClock is way to extensive for me.
TClockEx has that feature, but it does not blend with the Windows XP themes. Any ideas please?
And when time-synchronisation is concerned, I am using D4 (=Dimensions 4)since 1994. It is the best time synchroniser I have ever tried.
pluizebol reviewed v1.51.2 on Feb 26, 2003
Not exactly what I am looking for.
Can somebody post a link to @clock please.
I cannot find it and would like to give it a try too.
Thanks
jazjon reviewed v1.51 on Feb 12, 2003
What's so great about it? If I'm going to add a super clock, it should have world times ready to go for places I'm about to travel to etc. (alternates between San Francisco and Tokyo etc, or one click changes it) I didnt think the current release added much. XP already has built in time setting/sync. Who needs some cracky lady you cant even understand telling you what time it is? Outlook XP and my PDA/Phone is already my alarm clock.
rabbitbert reviewed v1.51 Beta 2 on Feb 10, 2003
@mmatheny
could u please post a link to that @clock so that everybody is able to create his own impression of it?
to alfaclock. the only thing i dont like? why shareware? an easy clock/calendar tool and it costs ... nope, i dont like that fact. it should be free. rating 1 point less because of that.
mmatheny reviewed v1.51 Beta 1 on Feb 7, 2003
Sorry, guys, I don't care what you say, I like the layout options of @Clock much better. It blends in with XP themes much better. And you can hardly understand the chick's voice in AlphaClock!

Hi guys, a took a look at this stuff, and I gave t a 5, cause I like it - I'll never use it though for 2 things: the clock on my taskbar is hidden now for ages and I use the clock on WinBar (that's my thing) and 2. it's shareware, and well, yeah, that's it.
But I tell ya: it's good stuff, worth a try !
golbex reviewed v1.43 Beta 4 on Dec 8, 2002
Mmm... But have you ever heard of "too much of a good thing"? Granted, I love clocks, but I have one right here in my system tray already. I don't know why I'd ever want another... and a shareware one at that.

"I'm tired of seeing a new ver. released here every single day.
"
Well at least the author is keeping up with it and fixing bugs.... Some freeware/shareware programs never see that, but should! Why complain about a GOOD thing? If they didn't post updates you'd complain about that!????

i love this. don't need the alarm, speech, or internet update features, though, and don't want to shell out for it. does anyone know of a freeware alternative that works in XP?
Fantom reviewed v1.43 Beta 2 on Dec 7, 2002
The previous message is simply ridiculous. @Clock no more than a student's hand-made article. They do not have any chance before AlfaClock.

You people should look at @Clock - it blends in with XP skins nicely.

Thisis basically pathetic, its NOT freeware its restricware, try MS portrait instead, far better and at present Free or MSN Messanger if u must put yer mug on the net::) avoid this program though at all costs
BeetleJuice2002 reviewed v1.42 Beta 3 on Dec 2, 2002
Did you 1st two guys try the program and its functions at all before reviewing it here? I mean you *should* already know what the clock in your system tray looks like don't you so why the need for an image?. This program enhances the tray clock and adds functions and ability to change the fonts you can change the look, somewhat. Where are they advertising their name across my desktop? do you mean the shareware screen that all shareware apps have? That's nothing new and is pretty common...
I think it's a pretty neat little application and have bought it already ;-)
cdxrevvved reviewed v1.42 Beta 2 on Dec 1, 2002
Personally, I usually try and program instead of reviewing it without using it and it seems some people here do.. Why show a screenshot of what it looks like in the tray? ITS A CLOCK! IT SAYS - " SUNDAY 13:49:55 " and thats what it looks like... Its the feature in the screenshot above that you should be looking at.. not what it looks like, but what it does...
Personally, been sitting in my tray since I first faw it and never had any problems at all. Love it!
420sg reviewed v1.42 Beta 2 on Nov 30, 2002
I gather that it is more than just a clock in the tray. That is all I need to know, sure don't need anymore junk down there.
OrlandoTommy reviewed v1.42 Beta 2 on Nov 30, 2002
Seems like this company is more into advertising its name across your desktop than providing a goodproduct. How about providing some screen shots of what the clock looks like in the system tray rathen than just a setup screen..
