Publisher's Description
Altepad is a small, easy and friendly text editor/viewer which additionally is capable of editing web-files (both pages and pictures). The editor can replace a standard Notepad and be utilized as such as well as a plug-in for editing/viewing files in Total Commander (Windows Commander). An attractive and easily understandable interface is another merit of the program.

I continue to be amazed by users who complain about paying for software, expecting the best software to somehow magically create itself out of nothing and land in their laps free of charge. Obviously, they've never developed any app in their lives. Yes, there are lots of notepad replacements out there, but there are few true text editors. Who uses them? Writers and programmers mainly. UltraEdit is the top of the class followed closely by EmEditor, and then you have NoteTab and EditPlus. Beyond those, you have scores of apps like AltePad, a truly awful, redundant effort. The question is not why notepad replacements exist, but why no one is building a better text editor; one that combines the best features of all the others? Build THAT app and users will beat a path.

Its true notepad replacements are coming out every day. But you know what? I still haven't found one that I love. UltraEdit is close, but I don't really like paying for it.
So until one comes out I love, I'll keep downloading them.

I'm really sorry. This goes against my own betanews review policy - to rate something without even trying it. I'm sure it's a good notepad replacement...but why do you think you have no reviews? I'll tell you why; because we've seen a MILLION notepad replacements before. I literally see one every week. What's notepad for? Opening [text] files and changing them. THAT'S IT. Go develop something useful. If you can't think of something, visit www.sourceforge.net and join a team. Bah humbug.
