Publisher's Description
Avira AntiVir Rescue System is a Linux-based application that allows accessing computers that cannot be booted anymore. Thus it is possible to: repair a damaged system, rescue data, and scan the system for virus infections. Just double-click on the rescue system package to burn it to a CD/DVD. You can then use this CD/DVD to boot your computer.
The Avira AntiVir Rescue System is updated several times a day so that the most recent security updates are always available.

This is pretty good. The default language is in German, and there isn't an easy determination that you are running with current definitions when you boot up.
The more AV rescue disks you have, the better. Here are some more:
F-Secure:

Kapersky:

BitDefender:

Right now my fav is Bitdefender, it's had the best linux hardware compatibility, scan speed, detection rates, and interface, but it never hurts to have more. Really appreciate all these tools, it helps with my side job of fixing up AV on windows boxes.
