It sits quietly on the taskbar, doing what it says on the label, no more, no less. It is so easy to use that, unlike Hijack this, it is suitable for a complete novice.

Although I agree that BHODemon does, in fact, do exactly what it claims to do... this program has limited use in Windows XP SP2, since IE already has the ability to manage its add-ins and as others have pointed out, HijackThis is a better solution since it's a little more all-encompassing.

To the reviewer below me who criticizes such an opinion as "retarded", yes, we most certainly can criticize and compare Basic/Pro versions if it shows that one version has more value to it... more bang for your buck, so to speak. In the example of SystemWorks, sure I can pay $50 for limited functionality, but for $70 I can have all that functionality plus additional functionality. Essentially, you get what you pay for... and it's your choice to be a penny-pincher or go for true value.

However, in this case, HijackThis is free (just like BHODemon) and provides better functionality therefore making it a better solution across the board.

You both need to be shot. Did you even read the application name? ITs BHO demon. Not BHO/Script/Registry/pop-up blocker. Of course it doesn't do as much, that's why its just called BHO! Damn you people are retarded. Fine hijack this may do more, because hey.. its not just a BHO blocker is it? yeah, and a professional version of Norton System works does more than the basic version, why? Because its the PRO version!!! If we don't need the pro version, you going to critique Symantec on their product too because the basic version sucks in comparison to the Pro version?

This product works great. I give it a 5, and you 2 boneheads that mention other products, should be shot, no trial. Just shot. You can't blame a product for truth in Advertising. He didn't say he was trying to prevent ALL spyware.. just Browser Help Objects, that's all it does, and it does it well.

Easy to understand and use. Hijackthis reports a lot more info and then requires a lot of clicking and reading where BHODemon has a concise 1 page view.
Only shows BHO's, but not other browser objects (ie context menu plugins) which can interfere with the browser. It needs to evolve a little outside of pure BHOs to be a truely useful app.
What is does do, it does very well.

HijackThis is better. This one is OK but doesn't do as much.

The "prime time" monitoring feature will block BHOs as they attempted to be installed...nice addition in version 2.0.

Version 2.0 is easier to understand as far as what each BHO on the system is all about. This should make it easier to make the Yes/No decision on which BHOs to keep.

I liked version 1.x better. Ver. 2.x is larger, slower, and more complicated. Doing a simple task like finding BHO's should only take a small, simple program. This version does work well, but unfortunately has unnecessary bells and whistles. Get it, you need it and will like it anyway. Death to BHO's and Spyware!
