It provides an integrated web user interface framework and an in memory database system supporting the ACID DBMS properties, locking, class level access control, user/groups, authentication and remote administration.

It combines tiers of a n-tier application model (presentation, application logic, data) into one JVM. This makes the overall system infrastructure more lightweight and is much more responsive than multi tier architectures. It gets delivered with a pre configured production strength servlet engine to make it ready to run without configuration.

This platform enables the creation of web applications without having to program against the servlet or jdbc api. The only skills a programmer actually needs to write an application on Bellvue is 1. declaring variables and 2. writing functions in java. Only the domain model (variables) and functions need to be programmed and the database and web interface is generated from this by Bellvue.
