Publisher's Description
Bouncer is a network tool which allows you to bypass proxy restrictions and obtain outside connections from an internal LAN. It uses SSL tunnelling, which allows you to obtain a constant streaming connection out of a proxy. If you are restricted behind a proxy and can access secure online ordering sites, then you can get out to whatever host on whatever port you want. It also supports a lot of other features including socks 5, basic authentication, access control lists, and Web-based administration.

sisyfos - emperorubby wasnt "picking on a perfectly sound program" he/she was just stating that it would be handy if the program had some sort of list of ports which applications that this program will probably be used to use, such as AIM, MSN Messenger, etc. I too feel that a simple text file with the application and the ports it uses would be a great idea to have as it will save people asking in the forum or emailing (the author mainly) for help.

This program is fast and small. Have you even compared the speed between this and any others? Get your facts before posting next time.

There are several programs with windows gui around like httport (free) or socks2http, so I believe, there is no need to waste time with this program.

emperorubby, the list of so-called commonly used ports is virtually endless. How about consulting the AIM manual for which ports it uses rather than picking on a perfectly sound product.

what port does AIM use? This program needs to include more info and commonly used ports.

By the way...
Can anyone please tell me if this program is able to use an HTTP proxy server to access an IRC server?
It's because DCC transfers on IRC don't work when we're using an HTTP proxy, but with a SOCKS proxy it works!
So, is there any way to bypass this problem using the program?
Like using it to emulate a SOCKS proxy using a HTTP proxy, or something?
Thanks in advance! =)

MSN Messenger uses port 1863 and will need to be done through a Socks 5 approach. Most web proxies only allow tunnelling to port 443 or 563, but if your proxy supports other ports then you are in luck. If you run the program with the following command line;
--port 1080 --socks5 --tunnel webproxy:port
This will act as a Socks 5 server and SSL tunnel through the webproxy. Depending what messages you back from the proxy depends if it will work (200: Connection established == good). If that fails you have an a couple of alternative solutions (it just depends how determined you are to get out).
Solution 1:
Get someone with a machine on the outside world to bind a Socks 5 daemon to port 443. Then from inside you would setup a tunnel like this;
--port 1080 --destination externalhost:443 --tunnel webproxy:port
Then you can use localhost:1080 as a Socks 5 server which MSN can use.
Solution 2:
The other option if the box on the outside world is not willing to bind Socks 5 to port 443 (for security reasons) then they could bind sshd to port 443 (no security risks). You can then use ssh tunnels to setup a tunnel to a Socks 5 server and use that. For doing this I would recommend PuTTY under Windows as this program rocks.
Things may seem hard, but nothing is impossible!
