When you run the program all it does is stick this icon in your system tray. I spent about a minute clicking, right-clicking and double-clicking this icon to no avail. Finally about a minute later (with no evidence the computer was doing anything in the meantime), this menu flashes on the screen about 30 times -- the menu I'd apparently been trying to open. And this "select your language" dialog appears. I select "ENGLISH" and hit OK. Then this ad comes up. I click the close button. Now the outline of the main window appears on top of that. A full minute later, still no signs of life. I click its button on the taskbar to minimize it and click again. Now it's an all-white window which, when I click on it, says "(not responding)". I tried this whole nonsense three times before I finally decided this program is total ***** and not worth my time.

Still adware, still verboten

Even if I was desperate I wouldn't install this program with it's malware. The author should give you the option to only install the program, not the adware also. I'll just use Windows Media Player for now!

Roj " want to see a zero tolerance policy for adware and shamware on BetaNews."
Not only do I agree one hundred percent with Roj on getting rid of that kind of software but my skin crawls when I see keyloggers and other similar spying software. Isn't it time we take a stand at protecting our privacy when it comes to OUR computers from THOSE kind of software by refusing to have them on this website? An other option could be to have a Zero rating option to voice our opinion in those case. One is already one too much.
Gets down soapbox. :P

Seems so outdated when it comes to interface. And who need such an app anyway?

I want to see a zero tolerance policy for adware and shamware on BetaNews.
Programs like this would be the first casualties (in this case, because it's adware and because that adware is MALWARE, specifically a browser "helper" object).
Get this garbage off BetaNews. If the author can't be civil enough to at the very least allow users the toption to NOT install the MALWARE he bundles with his product, he has no damned business being here.
ONE star for my personal zero tolerance approach to apps that bundle MALWARE.

Works, like crap, looks like crap, functionality is crap.
But other than that, hey it's adware!
Just another half rate programmer trying to make money off of crap.
This was a crappy message, I am sorry.

Do not waste your time with this malware-ridden crap. This type of program should be banned from this site.
Go grab Burrrn or BurnAtOnce and continue on with your day.

Burn4"Free" - what is the free in this program? Free adware and malware?

Absolute rubbish! Why doesn't BileForum/BetaNews have a zero-tolerance policy like Download.com [supposedly] and get rid of this LooZer's adware crapfest?
I just checked download.com & this program's somehow still listed there. I filed a complaint, given download's supposed banning of adware.....
I'm also sending notice to FileForum.
This crap should NOT be tolerated!
PS -- Burn4Free does a lousy burning job as well...
Disgusted!!

This reserves 0 (zero) but there is no. Don't burn any CD/DVD instead of using this crap, or use something like CDBurnerXP Pro (fully free).
Developers must realize that we are no fools. Protest adware/spyware and use totally free applications.
Respect...

plus, just look at the thing. if all the malware wasnt bad enough, the UI on this thing is ugly as sin.

different version, same malware crap.
Burnatonce or Burrrn are much better choices!

Malware crap. Use easyburning better and no mal/spy/adware. Complete freeware
TigerTou reviewed v1.0.2.0 on Oct 22, 2004
We've been following this program, which initially held a great deal of promise. But it tends to lock on our XP system and all that mal-ware is simply scary. Who knows what goes where. Do you really want to take that chance? Try CD Burner XP Pro or DeepBurner. Digging will unearth the older, free version.
christoofar reviewed v1.0.0.602 on Sep 8, 2004
eh, doesn't do strict Joliet filesystem for mp3 data burns, so discs made with it will not play on players that require it.Compared disc burned w/ Nero (strict Joliet setting) & one from B4F(Joliet checked). Nero burned disc plays all tracks, B4F disc plays about 1/2 of them.
Continuing to include nav helper downgrades it still further. Too bad, held some promise.
bobad reviewed v1.0.0.600 on Jul 28, 2004
Better! Although the GUI is still ugly and confusing, at least the icons look a little better in this release. It's a shame such a nice program is dragged down by such a childish attempt to create the GUI.
bobad reviewed v1.0.0.594 on Jun 25, 2004
Nice software. Very useful and versatile, burns reliably. Big downgrade for spyware. Another big downgrade for that SUPER-CHEESY GUI. Oy, it's butt-ugly. I think the author would get a good following of loyal users and plenty of donations if only he would address those 2 issues.
roj reviewed v1.0.0.594 on Jun 24, 2004
If some readers choose to tacitly condone the bundling of malware with applications by taking the myopic approach of "I can uninstall it so it must be OK", that is indeed their right. However, I prefer to take the more security conscious and pragmatic approach of making abundantly clear to developers that such bundling is not to be tolerated.
From a purely functional perspective, other freeware applications such as burnatonce, CDBurner XP Pro and DeepBurner all offer the same and better functionality *without* bundling malware.
If one is not bothered with 2 second gaps between songs, one can opt for CD Burner XP Pro or DeepBurner.
If one is more selective (as I am) about that feature, then burnatonce handily fits the bill.
All have user-friendly, configurable interfaces, are light on resources, offer a wealth of functionality and will not intentionally install malware of any kind on your system.
ONE star for malware.
christoofar reviewed v1.0.0.593 on Jun 9, 2004
Great handy burning app - it sucks about the Navhelp. ho hum - Add/Remove uninstall navehelp.
Run Spybot to delete navhelp entries. All done.
I used to donate to the author, but have stopped due to the navhelp thing (who I'm sure underwrites his expenses) Still easier to use than any other freeware burners I've come across. The rightclick context access alone is worth it to me to remove the junk from it. Maybe someday it'll go open source!!
roj reviewed v1.0.0.593 on Jun 9, 2004
NAVHelper is a browser hijack - in short, it is MALWARE, no more and no less.
I contacted the author via e-mail a while back about making the MALWARE installation optional in the way that Messenger Plus! does. He was not interested in the suggestion of a more user-secure approach. As such, I would not waste my time with this product - anything that forces the installation of MALWARE is not worth any user's time, especially with other free products available (I count at least three with equal or better potential than this one).
ONE star for malware.

No Bugs? A new world record in knocking down windows XP, it took the program about 5 seconds to crash. I just added a folder. Windows just went dead. Service Pack 1 I might add.

CopytoCD/DVD isn't freeware and big crap. This freeware Donationware newest version run without any problem with all windows version. But Easy Burning is not Donation Ware it's freeware and works better with many many more burner CD/DVD.
