Publisher's Description

CryptoExpert uses a real-time on-the-fly encryption system to encrypt and decrypt data. Your files are stored in the encrypted form on virtual hard drive with password authentication, but when it is requested by any application, it gets decrypted on-the-fly. Conversely, unencrypted data to be stored is encrypted instantaneously and then stored. The CryptoExpert system mounts a volume file to create a "virtual drive" that appears to applications and users like any other physical drive. Any data that the user attempts to write to this drive is intercepted by CryptoExpert, encrypted, and written to the volume file. Attempts to read from this volume are also intercepted, and the relevant data is read by CryptoExpert from the volume file, decrypted, and presented to the application trying to read the data.

For me, the standard app to do this is TrueCrypt, which is open-source, as all encryption software should be (and therefore freeware). I do not know if CE supports some options that TrueCrypt does not, but in any case check TC before you buy this.

Very, very strong encryption method, and an absolutely seamless system to encrypt files on the fly. With the crazy amount of p2p software installed on most users machines, and the fact that spy-ware is becoming more and more popular, it's great to keep all ur secure files encrypted, and this is the best and most useful software i've seen for doing just that... 5 stars!

pretty cool program.. would be nice if it remembered which drive letter i like my "containers" mounted to.. would also be nice if when you attempted to open a *.cc file, it would try to mount it or something like that. that way I could just create shortcuts to my containers and put the shortcuts on my desktop, then run the shortcut whenever I wanted to mount a container.
