I dowloaded DVD Copy Machine Version 1.00. It was listed as freeware. The actual Version in the package I downloaded was v0.9beta not version 1.00. I got busy so the program sat on my hard drive for a couple of months and when I got some time to try out the program a popup appeared when I executed the program that says, "New 1.0 shareware version now is available! You can download it from http:/www.dvdcopymachine.com Sorry, but you cannot use this freeware version any more."
Frankly, In my not so humble opinion and I do not apologize for this, I believe that software authors that engage in the practice of releasing software under a so called "freeware license" (which is rather vague) and then time limiting the software so that you can no longer use it at some point is not only breaking the terms of the freeware license but is actually a subtle form of dishonesty. The dishonesty of this practice is quite clear. They are trying to lure you in by using false and misleading statements that indicate the software they are releasing as freeware will be free to use and will not expire at some point. Not telling you a program is time limited is dishonesty by omission of pertinent information that is relevent to most users of freeware. Software authors like Nesoft Inc. (www.nesoft.org), should be boycotted in protest of this practice or simply avoided all together.
