Publisher's Description
DVD Identifier retrieves and interprets the pre-recorded information that is present on all DVD+R/+RW and DVD-R/-RW media. This information contains a variety of parameters such as disc manufacturing information and supported write speeds. Even though this information is usually printed on the packaging, the brand name may differ from the actual manufacturer or there may even be no label at all. It offers a reliable method to identify the disc, regardless of the label information.

I hope you're not talking about Nero's "Disk Info" function, because that isn't anywhere near the same thing as what DVD Identifier provides. If you're talking about something else, I can't see where in Nero it is.

A useful utility, to be sure... but most burning apps have this built in already! For example, in DvdDecrypter, before you're even given the option to burn, the media is read and the results are displayed for you. In Nero, simply clicking on the check media link will also give you this information. There is really no need to install yet another application to do something that your typical burning software will already do.

This is very useful software for determining the DVD media code. It helped my decision on what media to avoid.
Thanks for the author for making such nice app.

the best of its genre.

In these days of fradulent media ("I claim to burn at 4x but can only burn at 2x") and no-name garbage ("I was made in a sinkhole in the Golden Triangle"), this media code tester is indispensible.
Full marks for an excellent tool.
