Simple and affordable Web Data Extraction Software
I am marketing personnel, as part of my job I have to do an intensive study various products in great detail. A lot of this involves conducting an apple to apple comparison of the products. Might not sound like much, but given the breadth of the web and different formats in which data is scattered all over, we were looking at a solution that helped us in the process of collecting and organizing the data in our desired format. What followed is a marathon of searches for a web scraping tool with all permutations of keywords, one of which brought me to the data toolbar website.
As I had zeroed down on four-five web data extraction software tools for our task of web data mining all being tested independently by different people. Going by the sheer magnitude of productivity achieved by Datatoolbar, it made me dwell further into its working. The simple easy to use interface lets you set up a project in few minutes. Whenever you need to scrape some data just click on the toolbar icon on your browser and you are good to go.
The ease of use lets you capture data almost at will and also in the format you desire, which can be easily exported to Excel. Simple and powerful, this tool handled the volume of work done by three executives to a few hours of work a day. The application by itself isn't too heavy, it seamlessly integrates with the browser without taking a toll on the overall performance.
Some things aren't very clear though as to how the web scraping application can be scheduled for set goals. There must also be a provision to run this across other browsers. Going further I would want to see crawling abilities embedded in the application and the application becoming stand alone. To summarize the future road map I would like to emphasize on the following:
• Embedded Crawling
• Ability to Schedule 3.
• Works across all browsers
Overall it is an excellent value for the price of that tool
