It was a very good free tool. Unfortunatelly between 1.8 and 1.9 it was sort of abandoned, in favour of their DVD burning software.

The promised version 2.0, gets delayed day after day. IMHO now, InfraRecorder is a much better alternative with a similar approach.

It's very good at what is does. The interface isn't the best out there but then does that really matter?

Runs fine with Vista x64 Beta 2 Build 5472 so thats a bonus. :)

Still useless for audio CDs until version 2.x where the burning engine is completely rewritten. That's straight from the author. Do not dis a reviewer if you have no clue about the facts.

THREE stars for a good program with a critical flaw that is being addressed in the longer term.

Useless for audio - cannot burn gapless. Promises to fix this have extended over two years now.

ONE star.

The best burning tool in the freeware category, although now I've grown to use Roxio's RecordNow! over the Nero suite for commercial programs.

good software, but lacking some features and it still dosent beat my free version of nero 6 ultra edition. but thats just me, all comercial programs are considered freeware by me

You can only compare this product to other free programs. There aren't that many good free burning programs.
Nero is a great program, but if you only need the features found in this program then why pay for something you don't use.
(Nero 7 is shaping up to be pretty amazing)

It's not true freeware, it is shareware. They have a freeware limited version. A true cd burning app is CDBurnerXP Pro.

Easy CD Creator finally got me p*ssed enough to look for something else. I installed this and burned 3 big iso images in the blink of an eye with no crashes, no freeze ups, and no bloddy hassles. Its a miracle. This little program has got to be the best kept secret on the net.

Excellent CD burning utility. It does what it says it can do for me, and last time I looked at Nero's newest version its approx 80 megs large, which is mostly bloatware. Since when does anyone need an 80 meg file that chews up resources, and memory, just to burn a CD ? .. I think Deep Burner will do just fine for the everyday user whether its data, or audio it works great. The load time on my pc is approx 1/2 second for the interface to load from the time I click on its icon.

Nice tool that could be usefull for a number of users that dosen't like "megamonsters" like Nero or BurnerXP that are more than 20 megs to download. This prog is only 1,9 meg (without a helpfile) and could write large number of different formats ... Cool, even there is PRO version available functionality of this package is enouth for everyday usage.

Stingray57 reviewed v1.1.2.137 on Aug 18, 2004

This is a awesome program! I have dropped Roxio and RecordNow Max for this guy. This app is stripped down, does what is says and works everytime with many different CDRW drives.

The new PRO version has added some neat features, but they are mainly fluff for the 'AOL type' users. Yeah, you know what'a mean..

Nero was bloatware, this worked, and yet still: totally free.

While DeepBurn has a nicely laid out GUI, to me its biggest shortcoming is how long it takes in converting mp3s to wav for an audio CD burn. In the time it took to do 13 tracks, I can convert & burn completely using both Burn4Free or Burrrn. Too slow for me. Also its Options are still quite limited, including being able to set which folder it uses to make the temp files for burning. If you installed it on a partition that is low on free space, you could be in for trouble. I do like how it lists down your burners info before a burn & allows you to pick the speed for each job. But it needs more work to be ready for prime time.

This is a great beta application. Easy to use, provides detail while burning, and the autorun feature is superb. We've had one problem: while on 98se it runs flawlessly, on XP, it won't burn. Looks for writer, but says it can't find one. Strangely, it finds the writer correctly when the APPEND sequence is evoked, but still won't burn. Any suggestions?

When dragging a lot of files, the ones with names longer than 64 characters (thats the limit i think) are simply not added to the layout. This is not a bug, but a feature. I don't like that. Nero adds all the files and then tells you the ones that are too long by showing them in Italics. This way you can simply rename the files in the layout and burn.

I just start using this program, but ti works very well with my computer. I use to use NEro but drop kicked it when I found DeepBurner and CDBurnerXP Pro (both free).
Though lately DeepBurner has been working better for me (as I have a sensitive CD-RW drive)...
Keep up teh good work, and keep it free!

Is it just me or this GUI a bad attempt at replicating Ahead's Nero Burning ROM? When creating an audio CD and importing *.mp3 files into the layout, the "processing" takes longer than I think it should. My burn process was sucessful at 52x with my Lite-On 52x CD-RW, don't know why others could not reach 52x...media maybe? Good free alternative for very basic disc burning. Cover printing is a nice touch, though I did not use it myself. A little more development and I think this app has a good future!

Very good program... Some features are missing, like: it can't open a .iso file or any other burning file type and it don't save the path directory for the next session, but it's a excellent tool !!! I already like it !

For a Beta it is very good. Fairly easy to use. Made a working data DVD on my first try. Made a video DVD but it wouldn't run though all the files were there. My kudos to the author for this early reelease being so well done. Keep up the good work!

Nice program. I really like the compact size. It does not burn at maximum speed of my 52X LiteOn burner, but 48X will do for now. I wish it had disk copying, and I wish it would remember its own install folder.

DeepBurner seems to get the new Freeware Star of Burning applications. Much better than XPBurner.
Although its beta its very good an stable.
The project transparebcy is very nice an the development progress is at lightspeed. If the development conditions stay and the app stay not-bloated, DB is the sh**.
