Using the next generation proactive protection technologies, sandboxing and virtualization, this helps you achieve a maximum level of protection against malicious software, while not demanding any special knowledge or ongoing online signature updates. No signatures, no popup windows, no false positives. It is just reliable and transparent protection, easy to use and strong.

Probably the best security application you can run on Windows. Installs quickly, requires next to no setup, but does require some reading of the help file (mainly to do with installing/updating software).

Its premise is simple - internet facing apps are by default untrusted, all others are trusted. Anything downloaded from an untrusted app itself becomes untrusted, thereby eliminating any damage it can do to the rest of your system.

To echo boony's comment, Ilya's support is fantastic. Do take a look at DefenseWall.

DefenseWall offers solid protection, and unlike classic HIPS (Malware Defender, ProSecurity, etc) you don't have to be very computer savvy to run it.. Well, maybe a bit more savvy than healer4u. "...turn off your CPU"?
Some users rely on it for their only defense (no AV). I wouldn't suggest that for less experienced users, but in the right hands, and with some common sense, DW can be enough to keep you safe.
Also, the support from the developer is incredible. Almost fanatical.

healer4u does not understand HIPS
(nor computers) his defective Laptop had problems
and he had to blame someone......
DefenseWall is a good program
(how many anti-virus programs does he run at the same time???)

HIPS WIPED OUT MY LAPTOP! Actually the latest public update for HIPS is 2.56 I believe. It turns out that there are still a lot of bugs with this software. It had major conflicts with microsoft essential antivirus, and several others.

My experience was very bad. Hips froze my screen, and did a lot of weird things like slowing down application files from seconds to ten minutes. Long story short I had to send my laptop out to be repaired. After three days of attempting to debug my laptop the repair shop said they would have to wipe out windows and re-install everything....that also meant I had to reset my mail server connections and re-install all the many downloaded application files that i had.

If you install Hips and you notice anything not right....turn off your cpu and take to the repair shop. What I noticed is that the longer I tried to fix what Hips had done the worse and more entrenched the problem became....think
of pac-man crunching your files. I could not get Hips to uninstall completely and sub-files were difficult to find

Having said that I do like the theory of how Hips is supposed to work and my older versions of Hips did work fine. In any case don't expect the developer to make good on returning your money.

I finally had to drop most all of my other antivirus programs to get Hips to work. I am still evaluating the situation.

I won't add much to what's already said in other people's posts. DW is very easy to use and efficient to protect a pc, without continually asking user yes/no to answer cryptic questions like many other programs of this kind do. It's the main security software i'm using.
And there is a more recent version available (2.54), using the french localisation here (sorry for my broken english, btw).

Amazing application - offers very strong protection level against and 0-Day Threats, keyloggers, adware, malware, etc.
Easy-to-use, very light for CPU and RAM resources, no pop-ups flooding, simple and intuitive GUI, strong HIPS, and what is also very important to me - the top notch support (Ilya Rabinovich).
DefenseWall HIPS is my main defense.
In my opinion this is one of a must have application.

Great application. I pay for very few apps, but this is one of the best I've bought. Adds a very strong layer of security to your pc and is very user friendly. The support is great as well. Several independent tests against malware have given it a 100% rating. You can surf safely with Defensewall.

In my opinion, this is an excellent tool. I like this product very much. I think it's better and more powerful than Sandboxie. It should be used as an extra layer of security, along with an antivirus and firewall.

Slowed down my computer significantly. I created a new user and ran msn messenger and changed a few settings such as auto-login and save password and tried to reverse it ... did not reverse and IM kept settings to login automatically therefore I don't trust this program to do what it should do ... I'd rather create a system restore point before installing software or before a risky internet session.
