Publisher's Description

Drempels makes colorful, swirling, hallucinogenic patterns that resemble a hurricane or tornado. It normally runs in your Windows background or "desktop", replacing your old still-image wallpaper with gently-animating visuals, and meanwhile, you can use your computer just like you normally would. Drempels can also be used as a screensaver; in this mode, it goes fullscreen (like a normal screensaver) instead of rendering to the desktop/background.

Hi.. I love dremples so much I was able to install it on my 64 bit Debian linux distro but cannot get it to run because of the "does not support overlays issue" does anyone have a fix for that on linux? any help would be awesome..

Great idea, we all want a cool active desktop. But low quality took up 50% cpu usage. High quality went to 100%. All on a gaming rig, with a ton of power. So bad execution guys. Nice idea someday when we all have 16 core cpu's and can spare one core just for the cool desktop.

THIS THING IS AMAZING!
usualy im a performance freak and i like a slim os, but this thing is soooo worth 30% of mu CPU! im loving it! i cant imagine anything being trippier, more relaxing or pleasant, Perfect contrast to my dull optimized system. May-B something i totally dont need due to performance loss, but its just too beautiful, and i want it.

WOW! It realy works!

Man this thing is awsome! Runs fast on my 350 mghz machine too! If you want to know what it looks like just imagine a Windows Media Player visualization times ten. Really pretty. I would give it a 5 star but there is this one drawback: It only works on certain graphics cards. I'm not sure why it works on some GCs and not on others. But, it will not hurt anyhting on yor sytem to download it and try it out :D .

This program is cool. Trippy animation is always welcome on my computer. I only wish it ran in a dual display mode.

WOW, I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw this and am happy to see development continue. I used it back with 98 and loved it. I'd set the overlay control to pink and set my desktop color scheme to pink, now THAT made for a cool effect.

Unfortunately it doesn't support multiple monitors and since then I've added two, but if I was just using one on this system I'd use it. I'll put it on my laptop for sure.

drempels...very nice app..runs smooth in all highest resolutions...i run an amd 64 3400+ xp64 256mb nvidia fx5500, 1 gig ram...the only drawback seems an increase of temperature when at it...maybe that is hardware prone ?...

Another thing about this little program is the beautiful ability to make your title bars, or anything that has a custom color run drempels with the overlay

Wow! Very nice! And check this out.. Default settings use 1-3% of my 1.33Mhz Windows XP system. SWEET! Don't know how you guys are getting 50% used, maybe it's XP? Anyways.. I can play TFC with it running in the background and I forget it's there. =) Very, Very, VERY good app. Thanks Geiss!

Great desktop enhancement!!! Uses about 50% of CPU's on my dual 350mhz PII running Win2K. If you're not running any major resource hog applications on your PC, then Dremples runs fine in the background. On my search for more info on Dremples, I stumbled on another similar program called DreamRender. It has more features then Dremples, even playing mpeg videos or webcam. Plus mouse effects, yet it uses less resource then Dremples, but requires a good video card though (voodoo, geforce, etc..) Check out the Demo at www.dreamrender.com. Its not free though :(

Although Dremples still ROCKS!!!! :)

FANTASTIC program. It took some tweaking to get it to work without being much of a resource hog, but now it is AWESOME!

I have people walking by my desk, stopping and STARING MESMERIZED (sp)!

Alright, I'm not concerning myself with cycles or longevity, because I just downloaded it, but ßåÐ @§§!!!! This thing rocks! I have never in my life seen such a clean desktop enhancer. Kudos to the person/people that made this program.. and it's freeware? sheesh! Why can't I give more than 5 stars on this? hehe..

Wow - Looks good.
Uses about 35-40 cycles on my PIII 600 512mb, but no noticable speed decrease under normal usage.

Nice one ...

Interesting program. Yes, it uses 50-60 percent cpu resources, but I can't really notice a slow down on my 566 celeron, 128 mb ram. There are a few options to configurate the program and the screensaver feature is also very nice. Overall a good program, but you can also use a winamp program for such effects.

This is SERIOUSLY cool as a desktop! Gives a whole new meaning to 'Active Desktop'

But, even when it's not in view, it's pulling from 68-80% CPU resources in Win2K. But man! the look is worth it!

lucidsezboom

lucidsezboom reviewed v1.4 on Jul 22, 2001

Awesome! Runs fine on my Athlon 1.33ghz, and doesn't use many cycles when not in view. If you have a decent machine, this is a MUST HAVE.

Look this s*** is the Coolest only uses 14 cycles on my dual system I would tell all my friends to give it a Try ... in the Office it can be a great conversation piece.!!!

This is the neatest program I have ever used. I run 160 MB RAM with a 32MB Video card and I have no trouble at all. It uses very little resources. Try this.. its great!!
