Very nice little program. Too bad it isn't being developed anymore. You can easily change the background image and the header by editing header.gif and emback.jpg. There is also an option to change the color of the border, so you can make it look a lot nicer. This is what my EM2 configuration looks like: http://img89.imageshack.us/img89/3017/em22dr.png

This is a nice program and i have used it for many years but now Windows Defender tells me
its Adware This program bundles adware called 180Solutions.SearchAssistant to bad i always
thought this was the best messenger because
of its small size

It's been years since I waited for another version of this program. Anyways, I love this program because it really loads fast! As in! Trillian 2 and 3 are really slow! Along with GAIM! They are really slow! This version is not bloated and probably created in a programming language that is so fast that's why this program loads really fast.

I did not like it. Didn't look nice and crashed on my 1.8ghz XP system. Miranda IM beats this anytime.

This is the only program, other than Trillian/Trillian Pro that I actually like and that actually works fresh after an install. And runs perfectly!!!!

All I gotta say is WOW. Anyone say lawsuit waiting to happen? Looks a lot like Windows Messanger to me. Watch out for Microsoft. lol

Great program, very small download for such a high quality application. Hopefully MS doesn't think anything of it. ;P

It doesn't support the latest version of Yahoo Message, and it doesn't support Chinese in Yahoo Message and MSN.

Whatever the problem was, seems to be fixed now. It seems as though the file on the authors server was messed up.

Have you actually downloaded the file? Yes, Betanews says it's 208KB, but the file on the server is only 19KB. I've downloaded it with Mozilla, IE, and a third-party download manager, and in each case it's a 19KB corrupt EXE file.

obviously you have to redownload the file as Windows or IE cut the file short.... if you look the correct size is 208kb... doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that your about 190kb short.

If Trillian ever stops working I might give it a whirl....But until then Trillian is number one :>)

Still has a long way to go as far as base functionality is concerned. Right now I keep going back to Trillian. And don't believe all the rumors you hear. Try visiting the forums, the mods have clarified that issue.

KAMiKAZOW reviewed v2.0 Beta 1d on Jul 28, 2002

I currently use Trillian, but rumors say that the next version of Trillian will cost money.
EasyMessage looks indeed promissing and if the rumors about Trillian will come true, I'll use EasyMessage.

Needs an option to password protect the messenger. If you enter all your acounts across all services it stores the passwords yet it is not password protected leaving you vaunerable to anyone getting on your service via you machine, I.E. children whom you don't want using IM devices yet still allow access to the computer and there are many other situations where this is a potential problem but that is just one of them I feel like typing roght now. All the features work as touted but untill it is password protected stick with Trillian (which is password rotected and work very well)

The program looks ok, but some very basic features (like Send Instant message) don't seem to work for me. I hope the final version support voice chat.

Hm, okay, I've downloaded the newer version, but now I can't even start it up! I keep on getting a "Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library" error! "Program: C:\PROGRAM FILES\EASY MESSAGE\EM2.EXE abnormal program termination". I'm on ME, that could be the problem...

Once this thing starts working right, and a lot more gets added, this will be on the top! It's small, and perfect, but needs to start functioning correctly. Anyone elses not working? Like, options, etc?

Get Trillian. Nuff said.

I can't get the AIM buddylist to show up! They all show up, and then in a matter of seconds the list contracts and they're no longer there. What gives?

WHy can't we do anything with this program? Everything seems to be "shut off".

Seems pretty stable. Kind of similar to Trillian. I can tell you one thing, if you can get tabbed messages into this thing then you've got me won over forever. Good work so far.

been using this since 1.6, the performance hit is tiny compared to other interoperable messengers like trillian. takes up only slightly more memory than windows messenger on it's own, connecting to ICQ, AIM, MSN, Yahoo. Developer has been incredibly responsive in the beta testing, very eager to develop features requested and solve issues. Beta is currently stable though functionality has been turned off.

dont cry, it works on both my XP systems and is running fast and efficiently. It works great and is a good program Highly Reccomended!

horst

horst reviewed v1.4 on Feb 1, 2002

It crashes on both my XP systems. Is it an early stage beta or is XP not supported? It doesn't say. Therefor the only thing I can evaluate is that it was a very nice, clean -almost silent- crash ... and a huge dialogue box.
