Publisher's Description

FileNamer works its way through a directory tree; in each directory it renames all the files so that they have the same name as the directory they are in, with a three digit number appended. The following files are effected: jpg, jpeg, gif, bmp, dib, tif, ico, cur, png, avi, mpg, mpeg, rm, ra, ram, and mov. It will create a batch file called Name.bat which you can edit or just run to rename every file in this directory tree. The Files will all have the same name as the folder with a number added to it.

I don't understand why bother with this program...you can rename mulitple files in windows already...Why would I need an external program to do this?

This program has possibilities, especially for collectors of Music or Pictures or any other large collection for that matter. I did try it out very quickly and the creation of the batch job is an excellent idea. The only problem (which I think is quite major) is that the source file names are a 8.3 format with the dreaded ~ filename which is no good at at all for people wanting to rename their files. If the source file in the batch job could be the full correct name, then I think that this could be real useful

Just my 2pence worth.
