Publisher's Description
Free Sound Recorder does exactly as it sounds -- it is an easy-to-use free software program that lets you record any sounds from your sound card and save the recording directly into MP3, WMA or WAV files. Free Sound Recorder is a perfect audio recorder to record your own voice, music or any other sound by working directly with your sound card. It supports the record input/source from a microphone, streaming audio from the Internet, external input devices (e.g. CDs, LP, music cassettes, phone line etc.)

Finally found a free program that allows me to record basically everything I can hear. I've tried many, and something was wrong with all of them. This one can grab sound from MP3's, movies, youtube, WAV, CD, or practically anything else you are playing.
FSR has an OK gui, not real pretty (YMMV) but easy to use. Functions are basic and intuitive. Help file is informative and easy to use.
I don't like the way the developer included the commercial version files in the install folder. It basically makes the program install over 2X larger than it needs to be. The good news is, you can delete it. I don't like the way it needs and installs a MFC71.DLL (IIRC) in the WiIndows folder, just like the bad old days. If it weren't for that, I think it could be a portable program.
1 point off because the free version also includes the commercial version in the install folder, 1 point off because of the MFC nonsense, but I still recommend the program.

Everything. In the Free Sound Recorder editing section, I was able to edit digital recordings, and with so many ways to edit, my voice recordings came out sounding like professional job. I was able to both reduce noise and hiss, yet amplify the vocal parts, where it could barely be heard before. And with other features like reverb and equalizer, I gotta say that, for turning voice recordings into audio cd format, this is thee best conveter around.
