French translation is awful. I think it is an automated translation. I tried to put it back in english, half of the software stayed in this bad translation.
If the tweaking is programmed the same, I prefer it does not touch my system!!!

I really hate having to register a FREE program to use it. I assume it is a way for them to track how many people are using their program, but from a user point of view it is really annoying and stupid. I refuse to use any of the Fresh utilities on that basis alone. Besides, do we really need another Windows tweaking program?

Morningdove

Morningdove reviewed v8.28 on Apr 3, 2009

Applied for registration code 3 times; no response 3 times; dumped the program. Too many registry modification programs available to put up with this kind of nonsense. Besides, Fresh UI isn't worth more than 3 points without the hassle. Try MZ Ultimate Tweaker or, better yet, X-Setup Pro.

Does it appear suspicious that they have a problem with so many email servers?

lotherius

lotherius reviewed v8.28 on Apr 2, 2009

Same problem as others. The publisher doesn't bother to send emails for the download link to accounts that have ABSOLUTELY no problem receiving emails from other services. Get with the times - nobody uses "ISP" emails anymore.

Copied from their site when I tried to register.
"Oops. There is an error processing your request. Make sure you have entered a valid name and e-mail address.

Avoid using free email accounts. Also, our system is not compatible with some ISP. You may report to your ISP about it, mostly related with their e-mail filtering/blocking/anti-spam settings. Some of them even didn't want our server to reach their server.

Please re-enter a valid data or use a new e-mail address (from other ISP) and then press resubmit button."

They don't want you to use the spam blocking email accounts that is why. Take your program and stick it where you are trying to stick it to us at, but in yourself.

You can make all of these changes using the admin tools/Computer manager.

I love this program, BUT...

Too many of the program choices are repeated in too many of the computer "categories." They need to make it possible (for those of us using classic mode, at least) to specify that we wish to see every option only once.

horsecharles

horsecharles reviewed v8.19 on Nov 15, 2008

Charles-- check your Spam folder. If you don't have one, the email provider or isp can provide you with one-- so that you can get some of the stuff they're filtering out.

For the future, run Belarc Advisor regularly...in a past saved report you could retrieve serial...

This is *NOT* nagware! I've never been nagged by it after several years of using it. Yes, you need to register with *any* valid e-mail address if you don't wish to be bothered by the wait at start-up, but is that so high a "price" to pay for an excellent little app? I hardly think so.

Registration (painless, btw) removes all nagging and generates only the [very] occasional newsletter or new product announcement from Fresh Devices. Anyone thinking anything else is completely wrong and even more clueless.

Jeesh, get over the absurd paranoia, the notion that there should be no exchange of any sort for them providing a great app. and just give them a Hotmail address, get your registration codes seconds later and nothing more. Then never see another nag screen and go on about your business using an excellent product which only facilitates and never nags.

-Lord-

-Lord- reviewed v8.06 on May 6, 2008

There are a few reasons that this program gets a low review from me. For starters, let's look at the obvious first things we see: a screen capture for the image preview that you can't see. when you go to their homepage, you are faced with the exact same image as the one above. If you're like me, you like to see the program before having a go at it.
Secondly, freeware should be freeware. Not regware, nagware, shareware. the keyword is FREE. Some of us don't want to register on yet ANOTHER publisher's site for software they are 'giving away'. Let free be FREE.
Third and most importantly, I think... all the tweaks that you can find in this program can be set in a nifty little program called nLite. nLite allows you to make ALL of these changes and MORE, as well as remove some programs from windows BEFORE you even install it. This way, when you DO install it, the settings are there for EVERYONE that may use the PC, and your configuration time is cut WAY down when the OS install is complete.
nLite is designed for XP, and vLite for Vista, and both are FREE. Nag-free, registration-free, ad-free... FREE.

This one's not worth getting... not yet anyway.

FreshDevices provides good software, not the cream but good milk. Fresh, including Fresh UI. Whatever may say some, registration process is nonsense, it bothers everyone because everyone knows it is nonsense, which makes loosing one's time even more annoying. Give a DEA for two answers (one for email address confirmation, the other for registration emailing) and you're done. Everything in life which is superfluous is surplus ;)

Before you shoot your mouth off and give it a low rating based on it being freeware, look again. If you read their website, it says:

'Fresh Download, Fresh Diagnose, Fresh UI, and Fresh View are free for personal/private use only.

You MUST purchase a license if you are using this software in any business (home office, home business, small business, medium business, or large business), commercial, educational institution, profit or non-profit organization, military or government organization.'

Hey BetaNews,
You often tell us pieces of software are "Freeware" when they are simply not. It happens so often I don't believe it can be a mistake... are you getting paid by these companies on a per click basis?

If you are there is nothing wrong with clever advertising but this is simply misleading. I would be more than happy to help you with your advertising if you are having revenue problems.

Kind Regards,

Uninstall & reinstall mouse drivers and program(even if you have no use for the program bundled w/ mouse), remove mouse from device manager & re-detect. Also, check out the FreshUI detailed log of changes...it lets you then go into the registry to reverse, if undoing a change within freshui doesn't do the trick.
And---assming you're on xp, for future use, erunt is a bacon saver: http://www.larshederer.homepage.t-online.de/erunt/

Nice list of tweaks, but it does have some problems. Somehow I managed to completely disable left and right mouse clicks with this thing, so now I'm wearing my tab key out.

As someone that frequently nLite/HFSLIPs computers with no ill effects, it was a bit disturbing how fast I was able to completely fubar my OS, especially with such unrelated tweaks.

Restoring a backup had no effect, and the only thing ran before and after the reboot was Fresh UI.

I hate the fact that it requires free registration. The emails they send once in a while to announce new version do contain a TON of advertising, but this program is worth looking at a few adverts in one email that only comes occasionally. There has never been any mail sent by them that was not to inform me of updates. Great program, has a little way to go before becoming as good as Xteq Xsetup, but that went shareware so this is it for me.
