Publisher's Description
GSpot identifies presence or absence of "B-VOP", "Qpel", and "GMC", thus allowing the user to determine if a DivX5 file is compatible with KISS and other popular hardware DivX players. Provides information about MPEG1 or MPEG2 video and/or MPEG1 or MPEG2 audio either as "elementary" streams or multiplexed into an MPEG1 "system stream" or an MPEG2 "program stream". Limited support for MPEG4 video when contained in an AVI stream, such as DivX5.

This is such a useful tool. I've always liked it more than MediaInfo. Is GSpot now totally a dead project?

I love the utility, but won't give a 5 until the "full file scan" can be done manually. I don't want that option off, but hate the CPU and I/O grind when it's scanning large files...

BTW... Actually that is not the real basis for the name "GSpot":
"I was posting on a message forum at the time, under the rather unimaginative nick 'Steve G'. And there was already a program called EncSpot which identified audio encoders. Somewhere along the line the idea came up that I could write such a program for video and call it 'GSpot'. The idea was funny enough that I actually did it."

Great utility that I've been using for years.
I believe the author on the name, but it's quite appropriate anyway, after all, the pr0n industry spearheaded the digital video revolution, and I bet G-Spot's been used more times to work out how to play that damn pr0n clip downloaded from some P2P app than for any other use!

To uninstall - just delete the program files.
In terms of the name (from the website) -

It's a great program, not sure why the author felt it was necessary to name it after a sexual reference though.

Excellent - no more words are needed. Maybe apart from outstanding. ;)

The first i used and one of the best.
VideoInspector is also good in the same vein.
What you can read from author on the website about the v2.60 b00 :
- FLV, MP4, DV1/2 & Raw DV support, more...
- Significant advanced features for technical users
- Includes unique "Visual GOP Structure" (VGS) subsystem
- This is a pre-Beta release, not all features are tested or complete yet.
It may be of more interest to technical users, although anyone interested should feel free to download & try it. [...] but much of the new information provided is of a rather technical nature. But it may tell you exactly what you need to know...
- Ironically, some simpler features for casual users, (e.g. "You need to install codec 'X' to play this file...") are not complete yet. And I am aware of that, to a large extent...
- This temporary limitation is partially due to the complexities of some of the recently developed multimedia formats and variations thereof...

Excellent program. Oh, and can everyone please shut up about Xboxes and DVD players? Cheers.

Great program. Does exactly what it says it will and does it well.
As for the person who says "don't buy an expensive KiSS player" all I have to say is. What the hell you talking about? My KiSS DP-1000 was only £80 including delivery. Show me where you can get an Xbox which can play DivX and XviD with a remote control and RGB output for £80 please. You can pick up the Xbox (only recently) for £100, then £30 to mod it (which is illegal), £15 for the remote and £15 for the advanced scart lead to get RGB output so in total you are looking at about £160 perhaps £150 if you are lucky that is still £70 more than the KiSS player. As for the KiSS players not playing everything. I only ever see movies in XviD and DivX and in all honesty they are the two best formats so why use anything else? The Xbox is good if you also want a console however for someone like myself who don't want a console I would rather save about £70 and buy a KiSS player.
