Publisher's Description

GenieTexter is a free GUI software application for sending SMS messages from an Internet connected computer. It is scriptable, allowing you to write scripts to send SMS from the application to any web based SMS sending site. There are a number of scripts available which allow you to send SMS in the UK and also a few which allow SMS to be sent worldwide. The scripts are mainly for free SMS sending services, though some of the sites allow you to buy extra SMS, when you run out of free credits. The program is basically like a mini email client such as Outlook Express, only its dedicated to sending SMS instead of email.

GenieTexter is a great little application. It is a front end to web-based messaging services.

The developers go out of their way to help integrate new web based SMS sites into the application and this is done by downloading the scripts using the application.

The Application itself doesn't require you to sign up to anything -- but of course you will to sign up with at least one Web Based SMS service to use it. Once you have signed up to a service, then you can download the applicable script to enable you to use the application to send the messages rather than having to login to the website directly.

I use the BT (50 per month free/non-replyable) and also the Finarea sites (www.smsdiscount.com is one of them) which has very reasonably priced SMS rates (sometimes free to certain countries).

It also has a POP3 checker built in which allows you to check for New email on a POP3 mail server and then be notified via SMS - useful if you are out and about and are waiting for an important email. There is also filtering by name/subject so it only notifies you of certain messages.

Definitely worth downloading - Give it a try.

I don't know what the last guy was on about...

This program is a API Shell, simply allowing people to code there own SMS scripts, hence why its so popular. u can use mostly any website that provides sms.

The program connects to there server so you can download only the sites u wish to use.

The idea behind GT is to let people send sms's via tmobile's website, o2 and more without using there website.

This is a very useful program, and can save you a lot of money. The program interfaces with a number of free or really cheap SMS services, letting you send SMS directly from your PC. My favourite scripts that come with it at the moment are BT (50 free sms to the uk per month) and Wadja (4 free international SMS per day)

Two thumbs down. For starters, after installation, you have to connect to some server and download scripts to make this work. Most of those scripts are sign up for service and "pay this much" services. The only "free" one I saw was google texter and when I tried that one, it kept saying that the numbers I was putting in were invalid numbers (I tried my own cell number and that of my friend).

There are free alternatives all over the net that 1. don't require an install
2. are truly free and don't require signing up to any particular service
3. run in vista native on the sidebar
4. run in yahoo gadgets
5. and the list goes on.

This one's a waste. Spare yourself the time.
