I'm a big fan of "Events", as "kmrdeva" mentioned in their posting. The ability to launch external programs when a File is Uploaded, Downloaded, Deleted or a User Logs In/Out, etc is huge for me. I have about 10 events hooked in my BPFTP Server and it's awesome to get emails, instant messages, etc when things happen. Love it.

Have been using it for a few years without any problem. I don't have an issue with not being able to run as a service but I wish there is UPnP support - the hard part is getting it to work behind a router.... OK, it's not really that hard.

Filezilla Server does everything GuildFTPd does, except for the event management bit..

Unlike GuildFTPd, Filezilla CAN run as a Windows service - this is a major deciding factor for me.

I've read that GuildFTPd 1.0 will allow for the 'run as service' feature, but then, it's been a couple of years now and the damn thing is still on 0.999.x.

Installed server -> Configured server -> Called my friend to connect to server -> Friend connected to server -> Server crashed -> Server uninstalled.

Don't mean to be harsh, but this software need more betatesting. Don't rush software releases.

Grrr... Since the 0.999.8 the program crashes when I try to upload lots of small files...

0.999.6 was great. But forget the 0.999.8 version.. Lots of bugs inside... :( :( :(

GuildFTPd is a very good program. I had used it in very early version. It uses little system resource (CPU and RAM). It is stable and powerful. The most important reason to use is it is free. But the function is the same as the comercial one.

Undisputably the best FTP Server for Windows, nothing compares to the price (FREE), or the quality of the product!
