Very helpful in places where the airconditioning is poor and room temperatures tend to be high. Small footprint. Options for Alerts & Action. Have to register to avoid boot time nag screen.

The only program that I installed and crashed my Windows 98, ME and XP. A total disappointment!

Ive been using this software for over 4 months...since version 1.2.

Its gotten better since 1.2.

I dont know what these people DONT see in this program.

Its just a HD Temperature monitor...nothing more.
And it does it well.

First off, to the guy who says it doesnt work: If your hard drives dont support S.M.A.R.T., it wont read temperatures. 2 of my 3 hard drives do, so i see temperatures no problem. The third doesnt have S.M.A.R.T. and the program tells me.

It has an alert system to alert you when the temperatures get to a certain critical level.

I guess the two programs out there to compare are SpeedFan, as one person said, and HDD Life.

HDD Life monitors temp and HD Life. I dont know how realistic the LIFE values are, though. A 6 GB hard drive, which is one of the VERY VERY VERY OLD 5.25" wide type, it doesnt support S.M.A.R.T., therefore no temperatures, but it says its 100% life. I have 2 80 GB hard drives, both bought at the same time and date...one says like 80% life, the other is 40%...both where used in the same way. Both are 4 years old. A 120 GB hard drive i have, which is coming up on 2 years is at 60%. I think the numbers are arbitrary unless someone can tell me otherwise. But the temperature monitoring is terrible. When the program updates the temperature it makes it seem like your system is refreshing everything. Its quite annoying. Which is why temp refreshrates have to be set very high in the program.

SpeedFan...its nice...i just tried it since the previous reviewer made reference to it.
First off...i have a gateway computer (i need to build me a new one) that shouldnt have any monitoring ability. The numbers provided for CPU temps and such are always wrong...yet speedfan reads them like no problem.
It reads my S.M.A.R.T. temps no problem.
Yes, true, SpeedFan Provides QUITE a bit more information than HDD Thermometer does. But purely comparing the TEMPERATURE READING ABILITY of the two programs, I think I'll take HDD Thermometer.

Yes, SpeedFan gives you tons of options for all the stuff it provides, but for the HD Temps, HDD Thermometer gives more options...tons more.

So purely as a TEMPERATURE READING program, its excellent. Best out there.
But the previous reviewer is correct in saying that SpeedFan gives you HD Temps and more.
But I dont feel I need to see that information every 10 seconds like I do with HD Temps...nor Do i need that info in general. Just the HD temps please :).

This program is great. I recommend it for the use who JUST wants HD temps.

I really can recommend Speedfan: http://fileforum.betanew...il/SpeedFan/985582286/1

Not only the HDD temp is detected, shown and can be alerted ...

Programmer: put your effort and energy in a different project.
