This has been done before, in my opinion in a better way.
Try "oMessenger" located at www.mawst.net (see products page).
Messages and stuff work, just waiting on DCC support.
(still beta mind you)
No adware or spyware or anything else lame.
Check it out.

How come there is "advert" there?
irc apps are not adware

Very cool idea, but doesn't work very well.. The main problem is that I am unable to receive messages. This is kind of a requirement for a messaging system. Also, many minor bugs like it says "AUser" instead of my entered nickname in the chat dialog box. But again, great idea.
