Publisher's Description
Intel Chipset Device Software installs the Windows* INF files. An INF is a text file that provides the operating system with information about a piece of hardware on the system. In the case of the current Intel Chipset Device Software, that information is primarily the product name for the piece of hardware. This allows the operating system to show the correct name for that piece of hardware in Device Manager.

If you "brick" your motherboard by installing this then you did something VERY VERY WRONG. It works just fine and is essential for a lot of features on every motherboard that uses INTEL CHIPSETS.. so.. not for AMD people..

DO NOT INSTALL unless you have a Intel Board as that is what Intel web site states.
I have just bricked my Asus Rampage II and can not get to post nor if does start reading bios will not get me to point that I can enter bios, also will not boot from CD.
So DO NOT INSTALL !

A three meg file is quite a few .inf's, so I suspect it
does not just contain the newer ones.
Previous editions of this have been useful to me
but if I run it on this laptop what's BIOS doesn't
allow 1920x1080 video output it will overwrite the
customizations that have the laptop putting out
1919x1080 video that looks perfect on my 1920
x1080 second display.

@baki_princ Cool man. But are you always going to post the same thing? If you're computer says you have 9.2.3, are you going to post the same thing over and over until the official release gets to that revision? I never post here, but damn..

Just a one star as all this does is make the correct name appear in device manager - they are not drivers in the true sense. Have you noticed that once installed correctly, nothing ever gets updated?

Also, it's a newer version 9.2.0.1025 . :D

It's beta:
* Product: Intel(R) Chipset Device Software
* Release: Beta
* Version: 9.1.2.1007
* Target Chipset#: Jasper Forest
* Date: March 02 2010
Otherwise there's zero reason to install these "drivers", because this package just contains hardware descriptions.

"It is not for everyone.
"This download is intended for use with Intel Desktop Boards.""
That is the entire point of the program you fool!! It's to help the OS interact with the INTEL chipset.... if you don't have an INTEL chipset, you DON'T NEED IT!!!! which is why it is required....
great app, makes things nice and easy!
