Publisher's Description
Kantaris Media Player can play almost anything you can throw at it - AVI, MPEG, MGEG-AVC, WMV, MOV, MKV, quicktime, matroska, divx, xvid, H264, MP3, WMA, OGG files and more. It can also play DVD's and audio cd's. The player also displays some of the most beautiful music visualizations ever seen. All this is completely free. It is based on code from Videolan client (VLC) and Bass audio library. The graphical user interface is similar to that of Windows Media Player.

Apart from being bundled with adware, bloated, resource-hungry, almost uncustomizable and ugly, the terrible buttons 'Playback', 'Last FM Radio', 'Movie Trailers' and 'Video Library' cannot be hidden, which makes Kantaris totally unusable. There are no longer portable versions which means that the developer is pushing the users into the adware trap.

I couldn't figure out why it kept crashing so much.. then I realized it was based on VLC.. the most buggy player out there.. VLC was nice.. 10 YEARS ago when there was few alternatives... now VLC is a joke thats years behind in development of pretty much everything else out there..

Few video controls: no seek, no AB. Crashes if multiple instances are used.

I like the movie trailers feature but that's about it. I wouldn't watch video files using this.

It's based on the VLC Media Player with a different GUI but not as powerful as VLC. If it serves your needs then install it, otherwise stick to VLC. You're a glutton for punishment if you're using WMP as it is a resource hog and you need to install a codec package to view video files. Choices are many out there so stick to what you think is best, even though VLC is the best. Not using Kantaris, I will give it a 2 just because it has the VLC code embedded.

I like this player and have never had a problem with it, it works well and does what I want it too. So I have no complaints about it, I have been using it for a while now and I really like the GUI, attractive and they are always making improvements of which that is more than some do. This is FREE so what is there to complain about. You can do better, well lets see it then!

The app is a basic player that installed and runs well in Windows 7. The interface though simple is in my opinion bulky but that in no way detracts from the way it runs. There are more then enough audio players available and more comin so if this app wants to compete I feel it needs something to make it stand out. I will be watching.
