Firefox updates break Kaspersky web modules such as its site advisor, yet Kaspersky consistently refuses to address this. Furthermore Kaspersky technical support is practically non-existent.
Artem S. Tashkinov reviewed v2014 14.0.0.4651 on Aug 14, 2013
Version 13 was fast and compact.
This one consumes up to 600MB of RAM and it's dog slow.
No, thank you.
It's time to switch to Avast.

Went back to KAV 2012 after two years with another AV. Just updated to KAV 2013. Cannot tell it is running.

1. Thrashes your HDD by constantly (every 5 seconds) writing to registry - reasons are unknown and never disclosed (the exact location: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\kl1\OutData and HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\kl1\InData).
2. Thrashes your HDD by constantly updating virus signatures cache files (and never cleans cache files directory and this directory can grow to several hundred megabytes).
2. Implication from point 2: causes excessive files fragmentation.
Otherwise it's the *best* AV around.

Great anti-virus software, only downside is that recent versions have made my system slow down considerably. I installed MSE as a comparison, and the difference in performance greatly favoured MSE. KAV seems to keep scanning the same core files over and over again even though it has settings to not do this.

Best Antivirus suite ever. Not a sh!t like NOD32.

One of the decents antivirus, it works fine from Win7.

Detection rates are not everything. If you use your computer normally and sensibly you will rarely come across things that you require protection from. Therefore how an AV interacts with your computer should be your primary concern. If your fast computer is moving at a snails pace or you find your bandwidth is being throttled then look no further then this pig as being the culprit.
KAV was a pig, then around versions 5 to 6 got great, now it's an even bigger pig. I find more false positives then ever before too

I have been using computers for years. I manage an office; security has become a subject I am at ease with. I have switched to Kaspersky last year for anti virus protection. I had tried it, used it, it did the job.
Now, with this 2009 version, things went bad. Very bad. Not one of my computers, running on XP, maintained and periodically cleaned up and reinstalled, not one of them took the upgrade smoothly. It went from slowing down the computer, to having go on a cycle of never ending rebooths. I tried to uninstall and revert back to the previous version, but to no avail. It haf damaged the operating system itself. Adding to this the arrogant attitude of their forum moderators and their systematically denying they have a major problem with their product, I would rate this software ZERO if I could here.
Very very very disappointed. I had finally to turn to another product to do the job - isn't it what we're supposed to expect when WE PAY FOR IT? Kaspersky is lucky not to have an office in my area - I would sue them for damage due to loss of productivity. Beware of companies who make any third party software incompatible with theirs. You're on for trouble using their products.
Kaspersky? Never, oh-never! again.

Tried Norton, then Nod32 and now Kaspersky. Really like the way it works. Not invasive and not that slow as someone says.
(Actually, the Scan is slooooow).

and Blaxima, i think you need to look up alpha/pre-beta/beta in the dictionary. i think your definition is a free software that has no bugs (most important it's free), and your thoughts (like others) are "i can't belive morrons actually pay for software, i'm using this for free". if by chance it doesn't work you start screaming that it's crap. so my suggestion is to place your head near a wall and merge your head with the wall at maximum speed, repeat again and again, until you pass out. that should probably guarantee you return when the bugs are solved.
Blaxima reviewed v8.0.0.230 pre Beta 1 on Feb 7, 2008
oh look another release in the same day. Thats because of the problems people who actually tried it out were getting over at the Kaspersky forums that harlan suggests(where I'm a member).
This pre-beta version works better than the beta one released today(go figure) but v8 is not heading in the right direction
Nice try harlan by the way, changing your comments to try and cover up your your mistakes. Thats pretty lame. I have given a quick comparison off those AVs INCLUDING v8 but where in your review do you mention how v8 works(before your corrections you will no doubt make again)? I think you should look up the meaning of arbitrary before you make further edits

After years and years of various av programs, this is the only one which feels, looks, and acts like a program which takes it's duty seriously. If you configure it initially for maximum protection, it is unbeatable.(i've only used norton, mcaffee, avg free and antivir though). If a virus is found, it rips it out with ease. It really does seem to work, versus other AV programs which seem to have trouble dealing with virus', or even findng them. I've had many virus' and they've all been remedied without a hitch by Kaspersky.
Another plus is that deep scanning doesn't slow down my computer in the least (but i have 2gigs of ram so it might slow down others' computers).
This program however, is really expensive. As a poor man, i've been unable to afford it beyond the trial version. But you can buy a licence on ebay for $20, which i saw the other day which is a plus. Unknown if it works however if you have to uninstall Kaspersky av, reinstall it, and then re-enter the code.
This program kicks major ass.
