I used this crap with a 120gb maxtor SATA disk mounted on a Asus A7V600 motherboard (onboard VIA SATA).
Ok, I tried once and didn't worked (the system worked pretty bad), so I uninstalled. Later, I thought it deserve a second chance. I tried it again and this time was even worse. Not only it hanged with all programs as it did before, but after uninstalling it and rebooted as requested, my windows never started again (BSOD). No errors on uninstalling or anything like that, but seemed to messed the "System" registry, no luck with last known good configuration or chkdsk on recovery console or anything (it fixed some corruption, but couldn't make windows start again). This crap killed my windows xp. These toy is not only bad, but EXTREMLY DANGEROUS. It's seems not to be a beta, but pretty early microsoft alpha crap. Maxtor, please keep making good hard disk and forget the software.

MaxBoost significantly improved my disk performance. I have had a real disk thrashing problem until I installed this program. Good job Maxtor.

Despite what the readme says, this program will not work on Nvidia Nforce2 based chipsets, it will not recognise my Maxtor drive (using the latest Nvidia Nforce drivers)....

If it does what it claims, then it sure is cool. But with my 1GB of memory, I got the error like this: "not enough system resource/memory, MaxBlastBoost will now be disabled".

hmm..well after installing it today 12/23/03, every time I reboot my system or open the program itself, it tells me that the trial is over and the program has expired. Not a great first impression...I have 2 Maxtors that it recognizes, WinXP, and my system clock is current.

FYI, this program needs a minimum 700 mhz cpu; setup refuses to complete install otherwise.

Sorry, aber wenn Maxtor nicht mal Otto Normal PC unterstützt (Dual Pentium III) ist das doch irgendwo schwach?!?!?! Beim Setup kommt schlicht und ergreifend: SORRY THIS PROGRAMM RUNS ONLY ON A SINGLE CPU PC. Toll, da hat mann mal die Kraft der 2 Herzen, und die Programmierer können die Schaltfläche "MultiCPU" im Compiler nicht anwählen......

will the other manufacturers have same plan to the harddrive-specific driver?

I may be stupid but the download page refuses my email address as containing invalid characters, and they don't seem to respond to the specified email address.

I'm getting good results from this. I've got two identical ATA133 7,200rpm Maxtors, and the boosted one is noticeably quicker. But I don't think that I'll sacrifice Hyper-Threading in order to use this permanently.
