Its faster and a definite improvement over Internet Explorer 8, but I hate the new GUI. It does earn a 95/100 on ACID3, but its still my least favorite browser. The fact that its only for Windows Vista/7 is the reason I'm rating it so low.

Slower than both Firefox 4 and Chrome 10 and still has the worst compatibility with standards. Also has lowest score in Acid3 test! :(

Thanks for the longly awiated updated of internet exploer. I hope at some point they will release a light verion for windows xp with all the security updates. I also hope they will not take another 10 years to release internet explorer 10.

Between the artcile shouldn't read as "Internet Explorer 7 in " before the last para, I hope that shouldbe "Windows 7 in"

I have never in 15+ years of using the net ever seen such a monstrosity of an interface. Words fail me to convey how much I hate IE9.

IMHO it is the worst browser ever created on Earth or any other planet ever. It is fast but that is it's one & only virtue.

I installed this release to see if I was just having a bad day the last time I reviewed it, it's still dreadful, imaged back to yesterday, I can't see me bothering again.

It lacks some user friendly features / add-ons, like AdBlocker, double click on tab to close, remembering the individual website choice for resizing, simple and quick reminder app as an add-on, Yahoo mail alert add-on, and the list goes on for missing great extensions or built-in features. Also noticed ie9 is more compact, but Chrome and FF4 take it one step more down the road in that they use the Title Bar on top as a Tabs Bar, thus no wasted space.

Chrome is cleaner, and shall we say cooler looking, while being the most user friendly an app can be. Chrome, Firefox4, and Opera are still ahead of Internet Explorer. Microsoft adding speed to ie9 is a good thing. I am sure it has some valued points to its credit. For my everyday use, Chrome or Firefox is by far easier to live with - use. This rendition is worth a rating in the two to three stars range, so I have given it both ;) - different articles.

Very fast, nice clean interface. Between this and Chrome it's time Firefox headed to the retirement home. Personally this is now my main browser.

The slide continues. Just terrible. Every since IE 6, its been getting worse and worse. You cant cust. this horror at all. No add on's of substance. I like to add buttons and move my toolbars around, good luck doing that here. Time to put this puppy to rest..

The gui is just awful. Impossible to customize. Whoever has been designing the ie interface since 7 should be smacked across the face on sight. Deplorable piece of trash.

Good browser but not as good as Firefox and Chrome

IMHO it's dreadful, really dreadful. Once again setting are hidden away as before, there is little you can change or customise.

The UI is the worst I've ever seen. The thing looks like it was designed by a committee & then on release day put the bits together.

I was shocked that once again MS have no idea why they are losing market share. I imaged back & it won't be going on again. I only use IE for Windows Update anyway. It is fast but that's it's only good point.

No points!

It's pretty fast and definitely a big improvement from IE8, but some things are still left behind so far. Like I'm not sure what the cause is, but some sites still can't recognize what version it is; always says it's IE7.

Then you have this very long issue of .gifs not running at the proper speed. This is the first browser created as far as I know, and a small issue like that shouldn't still be around, should it? If that's still like that in the final release, it will be beyond belief, since there is a team of specialists that are working specifically on this browser.

Another issue is that a few other sites with javascript don't display all of the graphics like the other browsers, then you have the Quicktime add-on that doesn't always load the specific graphic.
