hunterb: if you go to that link without the program installed, you find out just how wrong you are.
The website only provides part of the functionality... and without the program it can only attempt to locate you by IP (it said I'm in Texas... I live in Mass.).
I imagine the program allows the website to use your local WiFi access points to more accurately pinpoint your location.
I don't have a laptop or a WiFi card myself so I can't try this, but it's a fun little idea. Assuming it works.

hmmm. It is really just a system tray icon which is a link to the windows live site. It's the website that does the work. I may as well just bookmark http://local.live.com/?autolocate=true
Even then, all it could tell me was my city.

Very useful.
Esquire, we would hope a wireless user would know where they are.
This tool's purpose is obviously not for just that, but to pull up your location quickly and find nearby businesses/directions from your location.

Pro: Small footprint.
Con: I wonder how many wireless users don't know where they are.
