I've been a regular user of Microsoft Money since 1997. The product continues to get better with every release. I purchased the Premium version. The purchase price is $79.95 + Tax. It also includes a $30 mail in rebate.

I thought Money 2005 was a great tool I had zero issues with it all year.

Microsoft Money 2006 should be called alpha software.... it is very buggy!

First let me state that I'm a Quicken user - about 7 years now - and have always found Money to feel "odd". So I was a little skeptical when I started this new MS Money 2006 beta trial. Actually...I really like what I see, albeit somewhat different than the "checkbook" interface I've grown used to with Quicken. MS Money imported my Quicken file without issue and has a pretty intuitive interface for getting started. Only problem I had was getting a feed from my bank...but think that's more related to the bank expecting me to login w/Quicken. I'm sure it's fixable. At any rate...I'll continue the trial and may make 2006 the year I convert, as I've grown tired of the bugs in Quicken that seem to grow more significant with each new version.

One thing I really like here is the fact that MS Money seems to be more "let's manage your money" focused rather than solely being a glorified checkbook. Granted both Quicken and Money have similar features, but Money's interface turns your focus more forward-looking rather than just being a record of what's already done. I like it...worth a try.

I have to agree with a reviewer below. 2005 is going to be the year of the failed, microsoft product. MS money, a disaster in the making. Bad decisions have been made at microsoft on the corporate level. The worst yet was bundling Yodlee technology with their product. Yodlee, while nice in theory, doesn't work 100% of the time! Come to think of it. 5 of my 10 accounts polled (aggregated) by Yodlee don't work due to their "technical difficulties". Their 48 hour promise to fix those accounts, turn in to months! Inquiries on the status of the problem results in: "We are working on the problem, and it should be resolved within 48 hours!" I know technology is trying to accomplish a lot, with very little cooperation from big companies, but heck. I rather download QFX files than have yodlee screw it up for me "automatically". The worst incidents by far is with Fidelity. 45 days into the problem, I still can't properly connect to their netbenefits site. The other is with AMEX. Transactions are duplicated; not only that, they cancel each other out. So if I bought something it shows up as a debit AND credit! What a load of crap. HSBC is also a problem. Having my CC balances show us as CREDITS (positive values), instead of what they really are, DEBITS: amounts I OWE. All and all, it's a good software for keeping track of your finances, only if you avoid the online services. I'm sure next year, MS will dump Yodlee disaster.

This program was a complete disaster when first released and had a major update within days. There where at least 20 serious problems remaining and yesterday (11-18) I received a second major update. After a day of review there are still annoyances that did not exist in previous versions. I have seen several of the major financial problems I experienced fixed, such as sales of securities being posted in the cash as payments, thereby doubling the reduction. However annoyances like signing you off your passport, so you have to constantly sign in again to use your MyMSN, etc. and not following the option selected to do online updates when you start Money, thereby having to remember to do a manual update each time are still annoying and were not in previous versions. I suggest you wait for further updates before you upgrade from previous versions.
