I love my Microsoft Office Keyboard, and the Intellitype Pro 2.2 works great. I just changed jobs, and for some weird reason, every time I log off, it kills part of the keyboard functions... the scroll wheel and the volume buttons. I have to un-install and re-install every time to resolve the problem. There has GOT to be a way to fix this...? Any ideas or suggestions? I know some of the newer versions of MS IntelliType don't work with this older model keyboard, but I have two of these and absolutely love them.

You can't stand it because you tend to focus all your vision tightly in the center. You're not a big picture type viewer so the sudden movement and shift of focus under magnification leaves you disoriented. Those of us who view things wide angle don't have that problem. It wouldn't surprise me if you also got seasick. It's just a difference in viewing patterns.

Yeah and it didn't do anything useful either. :)

@Kylde
No problems with Winamp 5.1 here with the all the playback keys working.
Anytime I install a new version of Intellitype,
I close all my running apps, uninstall the old version (in my case, v5.2), then install the new version.
When installing Winamp you have to make sure you install the Library option and check the Global Hotkeys box in your preferences once Winamp's been installed (the hotkeys are *not* enabled by default). This should enable the playback buttons on your MS keyboard. Also, if you have changed the playback keys from their defaults, you should change them back again.
Winamp's forums are of great help:

How lazy of Microsoft!! They reinstate the missing features of 4.12 and couldn't be bothered to include keys like SPACEBAR / ESC etc. There is no way you can choose these keys!
However, there is a workaround. You can manually enter the ascii code for these keys directly into the intellipoint entry for the app or default button settings.
That seems to work but what threw me off when testing this was that one app just ignored any setting altogether which it transpires has nothing to do with the above setting as I tried it with and without.
It appears (and it's in the readme.txt) that some apps just won't work as they used to with 4.0 - 4.12.
Well done Microsoft! What are you thinking and haven't you realised that good hardware is useless without good drivers to take advantage of all those features you sell your hardware by.
Giving this review a 2 is extraordinarily generous of me.

Morningdove reviewed v5.2 on Aug 13, 2004
For those who believe 5.2 has restored all the features removed from 5.0, try to program [Esc] to a button. There may be more; I haven't checked them all. Good programming practice dictates not removing features from updates/upgrades. Even small items such as this may be frustrating to users.
GoodThings2Life reviewed v5.2 on Aug 13, 2004
I think it's made perfectly clear by the 5.2 release notes that this build is mainly intended for newer mice products and for BlueTooth support.
Doesn't anyone bother to read release notes anymore?
5 stars, because it fixes prior bugs, adds BlueTooth support on XPSP2, and does what it's supposed to.
Older MS-Mouse users should leave well enough alone.
RaveN-FH- reviewed v5.2 on Aug 13, 2004
it really doesn't matter because if they did leave it in there then you'd complain that the filesize was too big. removing support for a product just means there aren't going to be any more changes for it ... and is that such a bad thing? no more downloading new versions where nothing has changed for your product.
besides most users are getting their updates from the ms site where it will ask you what product and then give you the appropriate version.
they improved the horizontal scrolling speed so you don't have to jam it up to fastest and added individual buttons can have personalized actions. it'd be nice to have smooth scrolling on horizontal scrolling but besides that i don't have any complaints.

Forgot to mention... Somewhere along the line (I went right from 3.2 to 5.0, so I don't know exactly), an idiot made the decision to remove the "task switching" option that can be assigned to the side buttons, and replace it with a "next window" option. So, you can't switch between two windows easily as you could before--instead, you have to cycle through ALL of them. Why do they do these things to us? I really would like to know.

They even removed the Tray Icon option! I use that because I use CursorXP and need quick access to the Mouse properties. Sure they can rush it out for the new models, but damn, they stripped it bare.

It really is rubbish. It must have been rushed out for the new Intellimouse Explorer 4.0 and Intellimouse Explorer Optical 2.0.
The Explorer 4.0 mouse looks even better then the previous two versions, and I'm sure they feel great. But I'll wait till they sort this software out first.
Useless thing like mouse-milage have gone, but so too have great features such as seperate button setup for individual apps and the mouse wheel has been confusingly renamed 'vertical scrolling'. The mousewheel button now defaults to 'Next Window', so watch out for that.
Does anybody remember which was the last version to have pointer acceleration?? I have v4.01, v4.1 and v4.12 over here.. I'll submit them to www.oldversion.com if MS continues with this crap..

This driver should not be used by anyone. Ignore it, it is flawed. Make sure you get v4 for your hardware, unless you have a Explorer 4 (currently I do not reccomend Explorer 4 becouse of bad drivers).
5.0 does not add new features, but it removes features that are required to keep compatible with many games.
Following features are removed:
* You can no longer create an alternative button set-up for specific applications. This means that games that does not support certain buttons can no longer be configured to work with Intellimouse software. Some noteworthy ones from my own archive are Delta Force, Enter the Matrix, Vietcong, Gothic II, Jedi Academy.
* Some buttons can no longer be assigned to the new mousebuttons. 'Delete' is a such button.
* The 'Keystroke' function is removed, so you can no longer assign 'any' key to your new mousebuttons such as 'A' or "CTRL+I" or any other feature you like to assign to your explorer mouse.
Of all tested software in my days, this is the first that I give the worst score possible. Instead it should have had a "-" as in "To flawed to even be used".

dkg_ctc reviewed v5.0 on Sep 16, 2003
I have to agree with the other reviews; this release is really a big step backwards in terms of ability. Along with the previously mentioned mouse settings disappearing, it also appears as though the "Keystroke..." option has disappeared as well. 4.12 is definitely a better option if you want to use your mouse to it's full potential. That being said, I don't think it deserves a 1, so I'm giving it a 3.
arossetti reviewed v5.0 on Sep 16, 2003

I have to go with everyone else in saying that this new version offers no major improvements other than setting mouse button actions for specific programs, which is quite handy for games and whatnot. One other thing (this isn't really a big problem or a bug) was that it installed two erroneous shortcuts on my desktop: ##NEW_STRING102## (a shortcut to mouse32.exe) and ##NEW_STRING108## (a shortcut to ipqsg.chm).

The mouse software is pretty good, although I would expect MS to add some features I've seen in other mice's software. Anyway, this version (3.2) has no benefits at all for users of the 3.1 version. The only change is the Win ME/2000 compatibility.
