Publisher's Description
Office Update Inventory Tool enables administrators to check one or more computers for the status of Microsoft Office 2000 and Office XP updates. Administrators can run the tool from one central location to check the status of all computers in their organizations. The tool produces a report used to determine which updates have been applied, which updates are available to be applied, and which updates can be applied only to an administrative image.
The tool works in two stages. First, you run an inventory program on each client computer to produce a log. Then, you use a conversion program to transform the log data into a comprehensive report that covers all inventoried computers.

okay, i thought this would have been like HFNetChk of MS Baseline Security Analyzer but it turns out that when they say you can run it from a centrlized machine they pretty much mean you need an SMS server or to run it as a login script. there's no option to specify domain/computers from the command prompt, althoug through WMI that shouldn't be too hard. from the documentation:
You run Inventory.exe on every computer to be surveyed. To accomplish this step, you can use a software deployment mechanism such as Microsoft Systems Management Server, or you can place the utility on a network share and have users run it from there; the deployment method you choose depends on the needs of your organization
