Publisher's Description
Tweakomatic is a a utility that writes scripts that allow you to retrieve and/or configure Windows and Internet Explorer settings. So what, you might ask. Well, think about it. Because these are WMI scripts, they can be used to configure settings on remote computers. Need to change something on a remote machine? Then haul out the Tweakomatic. And think about this: because the Tweakomatic writes scripts, you could do something like run these scripts as logon or logoff scripts. In other words, you could quickly, easily, and automatically configure settings on any or all the computers in your organization.

Well I've downloaded this .cab file 3 times so far and there is no program in it. I get the .doc, the .mdb, and the .hta but no .exe at all. (???) Gets a 2 for effort. Maybe they'll come out with a critical patch for it.

Yeah, boss, my proposal is to do desk visits to install Tweak UI on all 7,500 computers, then send out an email to everyone in the corporation on how to make our required changes using it, and also what changes to make using Group Policy. Also, we'll need the users to right click stuff here and there. You down with that? [A less-on for a more-on.]

You're missing the point completely. This is for remote maintenance and batching settings. Who the heck wants to do all this crap *manually* when you can generate a *script* to do it? And who wants to load a bunch of other tools instead of a one-stop? If you're the type of person who maintains several computers or rebuilds his machine often, this is great. *Read* what it's supposed to be used for *before* commenting.

Middle of the road. Before even using this utility, you should really read the doc that comes with it. Just like all other toys that MS releases, this one's not supported or guaranteed in any way. basically you're on your own. Also, many of the things that are done here can be done in other ways, like right clicking the task bar and getting properties to hide or unhide unused icons in the systray. If you can't right click it, then Group policy covers it, and finally TweakUI addresses MANY of the items in this program without the daunting "script" generating. There is no real install/uninstall to this. It's an *.mdb file with a front end for the graphical interface. Lastly, since this addresses DIRECT changes to the registry, EXTREME caution is advised. Instead of this, what they SHOULD do is pump TweakUI up on some more steroids.... then it'd be perfect.
