Windows XP Pro is still the best operating system that doesn't hog memory and rarely crashes. I got an OEM copy for a reasonable price. $89.99 at Tveak.com
It's a genuine copy so I am a very satisfied customer. Here's the link:

open the .ISO file in WINRAR than extract all the files and folders in to one folder.
after that put all of files and folders on to a cd.
then you install XP from the same disk.
.ISO is a disk image. it holds all the files and folders for a cd or DVD depending on the size of the .ISO, less then 700 MB you put it on a cd. more then 700 MB you put it on a DVD.

Microsoft has pulled XP 64 from all of its download servers and I cannot find a single working link.
This (mis)deed deserves the lowest rating - don't force any new software upon me!

I'm currently running X64 on all my systems, but one. This includes the system I'm now on.
There are some distinct disadvantages to X64, but I think the advantages, especially in security, far outweigh the problems.
If you decide to run X64 you will be extremely thankful for open source software, as, in many cases, it is the only software that will work.
Be prepared to search for drivers for most of your hardware. You will be surprised how much is available from BetaNews.

I downloaded this and installed it about 3 months ago, and it ran pretty nice, just from the install. I ran my x64 motherboard drivers, got my ethernet working, and connected to windows update. Downloaded all the updates, via express, and ..... Blue screen of death on next boot. Hasnt worked since. I'll try again.

yes, they deserve credit...the differences keep getting bigger from the first version I've tried out (1289) the difference with that one and the next was worth the download while so keep it up guys and hurry up with the final version. i run this on a amd 64 3400 and it performs quite ok up to now...
Neoprimal reviewed vRC1 Build 1289 on Feb 9, 2005
Ok...
1. This isn't a Suse 64 review, it's a Windows 64 Bit review, so please stick with the program at hand; review it....(if you want to review Suse, check out the suse board)
2. Um...yes, DEMOs are time limited, so what? It's fully functional and fits it's purpose as a BETA TEST.
3. Don't be scared....just know that this IS a Demo and not a program 'waiting' to be activated. It'll expired when the time is up. Don't REPLACE your OS with it - it's for testing only so my recommendation would be to either put it on another hard drive or another partition and put on some multi-boot software, or to run MS Virtual PC and play with it there.
Personally I've not had any major problems with it. All my necessary hardware components were detected ok, and most that required drivers, I was able to locate at the makers websites. I still don't have drivers for my peripherals however (Cam, Remote, TV Card, AIO Printer), but that stuff isn't essential in an evaluation. For now, the OS is crisp and running quicker than my XP SP2 ran when I first installed, but only time will tell. I'm beginning to bog it up with all the stuff I have on my XP SP2, when I'm able to test with just as much software, I'll be able to render a more truthful result.
I took a single point off the rating because of the driver issue. The OS hasn't ever crashed for me, but again - more software, and time will tell.

I've installed it. There are issues with the beta drivers provided by some 3rd party manufacturers. Seems MS has decided that all 64bit drivers need to be "decorated". Whatever. I couldn't get some of my previously functioning hardware to work, so I gave it the ole heave ho and put something stable on my system. SUSE for 64 bit. ;)
madk0w reviewed vRC1 Build 1289 on Feb 8, 2005
finaly :)
just wish i had a 64bit processor though ;)
it just deserves a 5 star rating because they 1) it's public and 2) it's free
it doesn't matter being a demo, you do get to play around with it and have a little peek at what the future of 64bit computing beholds
donpacman reviewed vRC1 Build 1289 on Feb 8, 2005
This is a DEMO so a time limit comes with this.

Anyone brave enough to try this? I have an AMD 64 3200....
(rated a 4 not to scare too many people away)
