Publisher's Description

Motherboard Monitor reads temperature and fan RPM data collected by your system's BIOS, displays it in the Windows system tray, and alerts you when there's trouble. You can use this application to manage your resources and alarms by doing things like setting an alarm to go off, or having an email sent to another computer, when your motherboard starts to overheat. You could even have programs start and stop when your CPU reaches predetermined temperatures.

Thanks to an open API, his hard work can be used by third party programmers. I too ain't fond of his GUI (I used it a few years ago mostly for the systray icons it created), but I use his DLL with Samurize now.

Shame about development being stopped. But I think it's more in the hands of mobo makers to change their mind than Alex - he can hardly continue working on something that relies on a steady feed of programming informations from the hardware manufacturers.

Another sad victory for the corporate world :(

Great program! Unfortunately, some producers refuse to submit important data to the author of the program, e.g. MSI could write how to read CPU temperatures from the core of CPU (not socket temperatures). PC Alert 4 submitted by MSI itself does it. I cannot blame the author, but I blame some mobo producers. I do hope that the author of MBM will change his mind and continue the development of the great proggie...

very nice

It's very simple to disable e.g. fans or volage monitoring cycles (and free query time for SMB access to temperature request only). It offers much more than SpeedFan (even both are great).

I find this program to do too much for my purposes. If you just want to monitor CPU/mobo temperature without a lot of fuss, I suggest something like Speedfan instead.

(Hardware Sensors Monitor is my actual favorite, but its expensive.)

Awesome program, works awesome with my KG7-RAID setup.
And yes, it will work fine on an Intel platform as well ;-)

Been using this prog for couple years now, works great even on this POS PC Chips, Slot A Mobo, Runnin Win XP Pro and 3 cool colors displaying my CPU Temp, Usage and case Temp. So if you have a problem with the Program, Don't blame Alex. Plus It's freeware, so it's not like you lost any $$

Abit KT7A rev 1.3
1GHz 266fsb Athlon @ 1120MHz
512megs CAS2 Micron
Win2K Pro SP2 with Rollover
I've used this program with this setup since last September, 2001, and it's worked perfectly with each version.
Just for the records.
Only this new version has a new .dll that CoolMon doesn't recognize. Proly be a new version of that soon, too.
I give it a 5-thumbsup rating: it's very useful, and I personally have had no issues with it with either win98SE or 2Kpro on this system.

This is a good program, unfortunately I can't get it to work on my Gigabyte GA-7VTX-H motherboard. It worked great on my EPoX 8KHA no problem. IF someone is using MBM on a Gigabyte GA-7VTX-H please post the settings. If i could get it to work on y new mb I'd give it a 5!

So, let me see if I've got this right....the CPU number now starts at 0? Just wanted to make sure, because I don't understand unless it's mentioned at least 4 times in the description, and as you can see, it's only mentioned 3 times.

Anyway, great program. Works great.

Very good program , that gives u almost all hardware-info eassily accesible (cpu, case temp , fan rmp's ...) , with usefull warning when yr system becomes to hot ;) This version 5.1 doesn't bring much more over 5.0 tho. Only "real" downside of the program : it isn't really fast(start-up) and uses quiet alot of ram for a simple background procces.

I use it to spam IRC with my temperature, pretty handy s***, also, a little number in my systray shows me my temp.

Great proggy. (Running on win2k SP2)

This thing has some potential, but it stops there. The gauges are cool, but too small, and dont get me started about any of the other interface options.

My complaint mostly is that it is such a pain in the butt to get to work, While I do not like CoolMonitor much better mostly because it sucks in its display, it does allow you to load settings for a particular motherboard.

I couldnt get MBM to monitor my GB-7DXR w/ 1.4 Athlon, it would monitor one temp, the others it said they were at 39 degress ferenheit. Right, and Bill Gates is my friend in the OS Business.

CoolMonitor gets my vote, for the better of the two, I just wish someone would make one that was simple, clean, and had some of both MBM and CM combined. CM seems to work better, but I like the sensing ability of MBM for all your sensors onboard.

I think the interface could really use some work, and that's mostly what holds it back. It took me a couple minutes when I first got it to figure out how to work all the settings. Other than that, MBM is a very useful program that reports back all the possible temperatures, voltages, and fan speeds it can get out of your system. Helped me out a lot. A must for overclockers.

I'm picky when it comes to interfaces, therefore the new 5.x interface detracts quite a bit. I liked the clean windowing and tabs of 4.x. More information was displayed at once. The dashboard of v5 is nice. I wouldn't mind seeing a skin for v5 using the old window style.

Yes the new face of the version 5 , its not good at all .
The author say ... You will use to it ...

I say no thanks pal ..
As for the 4.18 version ,will stay to history as the best ..

First of all it's FREE, so if you don't like don't use it.I have no problems with my Me,W2k systems. It's the only one in it's kind with so many features. btw. the screenshot shown here is from an old version. The new look is something you either like or you don't, but it works great when you're overclocking and need a program to keep an eye on your temperatures, fans, voltages AND wich allows you to start programs like Shutdown Now etc.You can even log almost every aspect of the computers vital signs.Good work Alex!!

My experience with these versions are quite pleasing under both Win2Ksp1 and WinME.

I want to say that the 4.18 is the best wersion so far.
Do NOT install the new 5.2x version until it works.
And I don`t like the user interface in thees new version.

mayakovski

mayakovski reviewed v5.0 Public Beta 2.3 on Sep 16, 2000

I gotta, version 4.18 is great but these Betas of version 5 suck. Most of the features do not work at all, it crashes often on all 3 of my NT 4 systems, and when you uninstall it it removes files needed to install an older version forcing you to modify system drivers by hand.
STAY AWAY FROM THESE BETA TESTS.

I could not get the program to run under win 98 SE either. It crashes right after the splash screen.
