4.0.9a1 is an old alpha that is 10 years old on my hd. Not recommended. If you want to try Mulberry, get 4.0.8 from the Mulberry site. Not the site shown in this description. You can find it on Google by searching Mulberry email.

Definitely has some promise. I use POP3 and it seemed to work fine. However, and as described in other comments, the interface just doesn't flow. One example: in order to import addresses, I opened Address Book window and clicked Import, but got a message to the tune of "you must have an address book open and on top to import". Why not just let me choose which address book and import that way? Not user friendly.

Also, I did not see any autocomplete functionality when entering email addresses in a new message. A messagebox pops up when new mail comes. You can't minimize to the system tray. The whole "expunge" idea for POP3 is not good. Delete means delete. I shouldn't have to delete twice.

Maybe there are some hidden preferences for all these things, but when I click Preferences in shows me prefs for just the email account. I couldn't find any program preferences.

Anyway, I did like the actual look of the application. The icons are nice and all the window panes are resizable. If they could just improve the "feel" of it I would definitely try this one again.

There is absolutely no doubt that this is BY FAR the most powerful client for the IMAP protocol in the world. Nothing else comes even close ;). Not even the most powerful clients, like The Bat! or PocoMail :).
However, I too find that the option/preferences dialogs/windows and the interface are a couple of levels below intuitive, to say the least. When I first set it up I had the feeling I needed a PHD in Mulberry SETUP to figure things out. It's hard to give specific examples, but it's just not intuitive and quite far from easy to grasp from scratch.
Luckily, I found out that, even while Mulberry's website is nothing short of hideous, it is absolutely LOADED with useful information, references to documentation, newsgroups, guides, and other helpful information. What I'm going to study next in order to find out more about the client's features is the following: http://www.cyrusoft.com/mulberry/support/docs.html
That link sure looks like the ticket to understanding this extremely powerful IMAP client better. It handles POP too, so it's not by any means an IMAP exclusive, but I would personally recommend it to anybody who is exclusively using the IMAP protocol for their email needs, because Mulberry is the only client on earth that makes use of just about EVERYTHING the IMAP protocol has to offer, and that, trust me, is more than you think ;).

This is the only e-mail program out there that really works with IMAP (yep i have tried every one...), it just a pity that its butt ugly (really!! its awful) and lacks a lot of useful features (non IMAP) that you find in Eudora/Outlook.
Please Cyrusoft, hire an good UI-designer today!
