My CPU Monitor shows processor usage in real time in the systray area. You can enable the icon to blink or show a warning message in case of high cpu usage.

On the application's homepage : "Sometimes a popup window (asking for a donation) may open when launching the software. If you donate, that window will not appears anymore :)"
Nagware. It's the author"s right, but it would be right as well to say so.
By the way,.Net here is ver.2 required, just another approximation.
