I tried earlier versions of Norton 360 and I must admit that their software has gotten really bad lately. When they came out with Norton Utilities that was a great programs because it was simple but easy to use. Norton 360 is junkware because It uses a lot of memory and I find that there are better programs out there that can do the job far better then norton 360 can.I give norton 360 3 stars only because It has a few good features like easy to install but that's all nothing else.

I think Norton 360 is very good. I think I prefer NIS because N360 cleans your system without letting you turn that part off.

How I get around the toolbar. When IE asks me to enable them, I say no to the toolbar and yes to the vulnerability one. So I think that gives me protection without the toolbar.

As I see it the future of AV is the likes of latest Webroot Smart Security, with an install size of 600k & a memory footprint of around 5 meg it is brilliant.

Expect more of this from other AV suppliers over the coming months.

Before you knock it - Try it - I too was cynical.

All signature based AV - Anti Malware are on the way out.

I have not installed the beta version, but I have had Norton 360 version 5 on my computer.
I am running Windows 7 64 bit, and while I find this Norton to be much improved, it did cause a problem on my computer. I was unable to turn off the part that allows me to keep some setting for web sites (bank and credit card).
I am going to tr working with Norton to see if it is correctable.
This is only on my machine from what I understand.
I am rating it as a 3 nly because of that.
I am one that used to not like Norton at all, but this version is much, much improved.
My suggestion. Give it an honest try, if it gives you any problems, get in touch with the Norton support. They really seem to want to work things out now.

@cyberdoc999:
Considering the fact that you refer to Norton as "Nortons" like every other ignorant 80 year old out there, I have a hard time finding anything useful in your review.

@Input Overload:
Really? "PC 7"? That's a new one for me...

Unlike CyberDoc, I legitimately DO fix PCs for a living and recommend Norton 360 or Kaspersky IS to every one of my customers. N360 for the neanderthals, and KIS for those who do not dislike Windows 7 because it looks different than "the XP", as the neanderthals put it.

N360 has a light footprint and installs quickly and easily. My colleagues and I install N360 on about 20 PCs a week, and not once has their been a problem. I use it myself on my netbook because KIS has a larger footprint therefore is more likely to slow it down further. On my main non-UNIX machines, I use Kaspersky IS.

Norton 360 is an excellent product for those who are not "computer savvy".

If you overcame you prejudges regarding the bloated crapware that Norton used to turn out actually & move to 2011 from 1987 & evaluated Norton AV products TODAY you would be amazed.

I too wouldn't have had a Norton product near any of my machines but I moved on & found 360 & Internet Security are the by far the best AV’s around, bar none.

Oh & my three PC's all have different operating systems on XP, Vista, on on this new PC 7, so I know it fine on all MS platforms.

This is from a diehard ex Eset user of many, many years.

To be frank 'ZenWarrior’ I don't believe a word of your post, from two machines – unmitigated total absolute rubbish & lies (or is that ‘trash’ to you?).

CyberDoc999 I assume you haven't installed the product as you won't have Norton near your PC's therefore how did you review 360? Therefore I conclude your review is invalid as its based on an old opinion not actual testing.

I installed Norton AV on all 3 of my machines a few weeks ago with not one problem, it is fit & forget brilliant software. it doesn't even slow my old trusty ancient DELL 620 lappy down.

Norton Internet Security 2011 is the best security suite, so bypass this 360 version.
This 360 beta version has just 14 day trial period, which can be renewed only one more time for a total of 28 days. If you are willing to test this beta version renew it after the first 14 days so you can get the full 28 days use. The renewal period is not cumulative but starts the day you renew it.

I agree with other user's comments, I do not like Norton 360.
Norton Internet Security 2011 is superior to the 360.
NIS 2011 version is the best security suite of all.
Forget about 360.
Somehow Norton messed up 360 big time.
360 does not have the same good protections that NIS has.
It is also more expensive as it adds unecessary weak tune-up features and online backup. The online backup is completely lost if you ever change your security software to another brand. No, thank you Norton, I don't need your expensive 360.

But I have tried Norton 360, just for, uh, fun, and it is total crap. I guess the "360" means they've come full circle, back to making the same type of crapware they became famous for. Viva la marketing!

Wow--2 GB of free backup space is INCLUDED? I could backup a portion of the JPG and 3GP files on my phone with all that space! (Of course that leaves out the rest of the stuff on my phone and everything on my PC, but hey, N360 is "only" $80 per year per system, right?)

Mr. Eko says try it before bashing it. I've been a beta tester and been pleasantly surprised with it. It's easy to use and has been light on system resources - only 2 processes in Task Manager on Vista.

I like the included backup and tuneup functionality, especially the reg cleaner, the diagnostic report, and the online backup piece. The navigation is easier than v1 and there's an option for backup icon overlays so you can see what's backed up. The password manager is also pretty cool.

Like I said earlier, try it and see for yourself.

Because I walk or surf in nice web places clean web. I read books papers so if you friends are clean not to send you worse mail and files or data you do not need to use all of your internet security or antivirus see everthing is very easy.
Firewall againts who? Everyone who wants crack your mail boxes or remote your pc or damage it when its on your hands. So try all protections end of 12 months you may find your best program.
Its realy good to understand the protection program in 10 or 15 days. But if anyone gives you more than it try it at once. I like red color bucause it says you emergency talks with red. Best ones in red.

Absolutely, hands down the WORST internet security software available. I have had to uninstall the program on at least ten occasions because of errors with the software. I thought that maybe a virus was creating problems with it, but after I got a second opinion with Kaspersky, I found out that Norton is just a very very poor product. Too many bugs. Creates more problems than it solves. Whatever you do, DONT waste 80 bucks on this garbage!!! What a shame to see Norton go down the drain. Despite the claims below, 360 has been running fine on my system for a couple of weeks now. Admittedly, I do have a fairly powerful system (Core2Duo, 4GB RAM, GeForce 7950 SLI, Vista), but I haven't noticed a single slow-down. My only frustration with 360 is that the options are, as mentioned elsewhere, buried rather deeply in the program, so this is certainly not intended for the power user, but would be an excellent thing to install on Mom and Dad's Computer, if you know what I mean.

And, to those who think that a 'properly updated' Microsoft operating system of any flavor is 'secure,' then end their review with an 'LOL,' all I have to say is: 'LOL. LOL indeed.'

Seriously, if your computer is a piece of out of date junk then yes this and other norton software may seem a little "bloated" but it's just becuase you don't have a system that can handle it. If anything the only fault of Symantec is that they are showing the minimum specs as being a little lower then they should be.

I have been a Norton user for 7+ years now and have never had a problem with it lagging my system down, however I upgrade once a year as well. If you want to buy the latest version of your anti-virus then you need the latest hardware. You want it to run better on an old system? then keep your older version and just manually download the virus defs and updates or suscribe to the live update service.

This is, along with the current Norton 2007 product line-up (dare I say it?!) REALLY GOOD!!

It doesn't have a huge detrimental affect on system performance like previous Norton products (I had Norton AV 07 installed prior to this and never had any problems!).

I suspect that other reviews haven't even installed it and are just saying the same old crap about Norton products, i.e. bloatware, but the truth is that 360 and the current 2007 products are far from being bloated! Just give them a try and you'll see!

I've also used Windows OneCare Live when I installed Vista RC1 and that is a really good all-in-one package too.

Most of the reviewers have not even tested the software so they have "no" right to make comments at all.

The software works just fine!

This is the competition to MS's One Care.
I would think that all these nay sayer's would be happy that there is a alternative to MS, BS.

Ability to backup online and store your stuff is good for who this program is directed at; the same as who MS is directing at.

Alternatives are a essential part of our coming to this site and making reviews of programs that "we" actually have tested.

As for uninstalling this program there is no problem.
As for users that like to test why are you not using a imaging program so that you can restore your system to a point when it was never installed.

There are many ways to avoid problems.

Having a fast cpu & lots of ram is a must these days, look at Vista.

So with those thoughts please test before speaking!

The ability to backup online? How many others offer that. I was able to do a live chat within 2 minutes for help so those that post about poor customer service should try it before complaining or writing about it. This is a major improvement and also fits nicely with Vista....
This is the program you'll want installed for Grandma's computer.

Try getting cust. service from these guys. = Impossible. I upgraded from my old Norton to this new crap and for whatever reason didn't take. I played the phone tag and email thing back in forth trying to get this to work before i gave up. Luckily my cable internet company provides free McAfee which i intalled with no problem and works like a charm.

Sad, man, really sad.

Symantec has reached a new low on this one.

I finally had to post my 1st review after using BetaNews for a long time.

Tells you it will expire on 2/28/2007 yet subscription expires 15 days after install.

Has no options for what to install and wants you to register on their new site, probably to tie you to your key - a new way to spy on your software usage.

Uninstalled 5 minutes after installation.

Back to AVG free, though I'm not thrilled there either.

Now 360 ways to screw up a computer.

I have been helping people with computer problems for a long time. 90% of the times somebody tells me that their computer is slow, the culprit has always been Norton something.
