PrevX is simply incredible software for removing virus/spyware/trojan/rootkits. AntiVirus vendors ought to be ashamed of themselves for how blatently negligent they are by not detecting advanced threats, that a company like this can. Corporations ought to be ashamed of themselves for not pressuring AV companies to do so!
If you (or your parents!) have "weird stuff" going on with your system that you just cannot find, you should really run this software to check if there's a rootkit.
This software is right up there with "Security Task Manager" for essential security cleaning. What STM cannot remove, PrevX can and will. It does everything you can do manually with SysInternals tools in a much faster and more efficient manner.
It gets constant updates for 0-day threats by referencing their online database, and fairly regular engine updates as well. (though I wish they would explain what the engine updates are, can never tell if it's to fix a bug, or to include more advanced removal methods)
Even though the software is subscription-based, (though the first 2 weeks is free so you can get a system cleaned) they offer inexpensive 1-month option which is I like $6. A small price to pay when you have a major infection.
