RSS Edit is easy-to-use RSS feed editor that allows you to create and maintain news feeds on your web-site. RSS Edit generates feeds using version 2.0 of RSS standard. You can edit feeds on your machine and upload new messages through FTP to your web sites. Number of feeds and messages is limited only by free space on your machine and server.

It seems that you are writing about version 0.4 or earlier. Version 0.5 has no problem with HTML - it has built-in HTML editor.

This version doesn't allow bold type nor the insertion of photos. I checked out FeedForAll and they don't either. So I'm sticking with Syndication Studio, which makes creating feeds as easy as using a word processor. See:

Next versions of RSS Edit will contain a special SDK that could be placed by any user to his web site to automatically convert RSS feed file to HTML and insert the results of conversion into web pages. Using this you can easily publish your news both at web pages and RSS.

sounds like a great idea, i wonder how easy it is to integrate.
i personally would prefer a web portal for people to post news remotely rather then ftp.
