This author originally wrote the free bu now severly outdated and buggy RegCleaner:

This has known bugs. Some of which were corrected when the author integrated this into his JV16 powertools program which since 2003 has been a PAY to play program. He claims he rewrote the registry cleaner when he did this.

http://fileforum.betanew...rTools_2007/987567453/1

JV16 Power Tools was initially free and the author received free beta testing in his forums from enthusiast end users, until one day for no reason he simply killed the forums and left every single person there in the dark. He then released these all as pay programs under the company Macecraft:

I have no respect for the author for the way he did this. Nor for the way he treats the end users who used and helped him test his software.

Registry Cleaners do NOT improve performance this is a Myth!

RegSupreme has never let me down and cleans better than most alternatives, in my experience. Having said that, I use six or seven registry cleaners on a regular basis and each one will catch something most others miss.

My experience was, that we subjectively no difference could be recognized after the work with RegSupreme.
It found over 200 alleged errors/mistakes in our registry, after the 'repair' we check the boot-time; the workspeed or the performance of the PC was not improved.
The possibility is missing of compressing the registration complete.

Strange effekt.
after the work with 'RegSupreme' my Paint Shop Software not works further.
If i start it, it open a messagewindow like "Applikation not korrekt installed, please reinstall it..".

My Impression: Be carefull to use and work with "RegSupreme"!

Yes, @httpd.confused has right;
delete only 2 files (windows\system32), created from RegSupreme after the first start and a registry entry - then you can use it 30 days again.

But you will found other tools, that works in the same way without paying $12,95.
Regseeker ist a kind of it.
If you use a german windows with installed OFFICE, and you use RegSupreme in the 'intensive' mode, your OFFICE msi installer works not again.

This is a known bug - Until today the author did not consider it necessary to eliminate the error

RegSupreme has potential, but I seriously dislike a few things about it, at first glance:

1. It fails to recognize aliases in the registry, so it flags the same errors multiple times. For example, it flags errors in file extensions under both HKLM\SOFTWARE\Classes and HKCR. It does the same thing with HKCU and HKU\SID. This makes no sense whatsoever, since in each case, one is an alias of the other (i.e. an exact copy, with a different name).

2. There is no way to exclude entries. How this obvious, necessary feature could be omitted is beyond me, but this alone would prevent me from using this stark utility.

3. On my system, it fails to invoke Regedit properly, so if I want it to navigate to a selected key, I always have to close Regedit first, or it won't budge from whatever key is already selected. Even when it does go to the correct registry key, it is incapable of selecting the appropriate value, as some other utilities do.

Beyond this, it would be really nice if it could invoke a user-selected registry editor instead of Regedit.

The only erroneous entries that RegSupreme found over RegSeeker on my system were a small handful of harmless keys directly under HKCR. Hardly anything worthy of notice, much less the $13 admission fee.

@DIRKES: You seem to have a real problem with any software that doesn't let you use it for free, indefinitely. RegSupreme's trial protection mechanism is actually extremely easy to defeat. Lucky for the author, though, I'm not a thief, and also have no interest in using RegSupreme beyond an hour, let alone a month.

It is excellent! It is superfast and it deletes and fixes a lot of errors in the registry. I have had this program a few months and I never had any problems. It could have a nicer layout, but still the basic thing is that it works, and it works superb!

Price is ok; but if the sharewareperiod is expired and you install a NEW VERSION (release), the test-time not start again. This is a litle 'pitty'.

The best Registry cleaning program ever! I dont know why people worry about some software not working- geez as long as stuff goes out of the registry, why worry? If a software ain't working, reinstall the damn software! How difficult is that? Personally though I haven't faced any problems with software not working, and am quite happy the way RegSupreme works. And ya, no other registry cleaner comes close to it. RegVac did, at one point of time, but then RegVac got bogged down by the 'look gaudy and garish at the expense of speed and usability' bug...

Excellent program I use this weekly and I never backup what it removes anymore as it has never removed a needed registry entry. I loved regcleaner and this is a worthy successor.

WWorks quickly and well, does what it says; caught 600 more files that my alternate regcleaner missed. Only down is its shareware, the crackers will get to it anyways might as well release a freeware version; and an upgradable PRO version for the paying customers.

Be very careful with this application.
It screwed up Adobe-Reader on my machine since the first release.
And stubern as they are, the nordics decided not to pay any attention to my bug-reports.
I lost all confidence in this (promising) product that deleted not less than 1200 bad registry lines in my registry.

JV, you really should have listened more carefully outside your "friends-club" !!

I used to clean my Windows' registry with RegClean and, after that, jv16PT. I installed RegSupreme and start to evaluate... But, after I updated to this version I was not able to run the program again, because you can't continuing evaluating after an update... What a shame! A nice software but a really bad administration... How can we test anyway, if a simple and minor update locks the program? I really have to find another cleaner...

This app is a buggy mess with a goofy, non-intuitive GUI. Definitely not a tool one should feel safe using to make changes to the Windows Registry.

I liked Powertools until they got ugly and more complex. Now they want to earn money out of a tool that does things you don't understand (program caching ?). I think it makes a database like copy of the registry. The good thing is, you can try 30 days before buy. My search result (extra deep scan): 53 seconds to find 855 invalid items ... Lets see if everything still works after a reset ;-)

It asks to cache first of all, but no warning - Turn off Seti if running. Causes problems with Norton SystemSuite just like Regcleaner and Powertools

This is a wonderful utility off the line of "jv16 Power Tools". Although it doesn't give you much information other than the documentation about whether the entries it finds are safe to delete, those that have used jv16 power tools in the past will really benefit from this fast and simple to use utility.
To all those that are wondering, this utility only finds and displays registry entries that are safe to remove! So don't feel afraid of doing anything. And if you are unsure, it has a handy backup feature.

MadEx2k2 reviewed v1.0.0.17 on Sep 15, 2003

The installer has a bug in it. When you unselect the Languages durring install and launch the app, it will sya the English language could not be found, yet everything past that seems to work. Once scanning is complete it will list certain registry entries that I suppose the program considers invalid, wrong, or uneeded... but it doesn't actually tell the user a compelling reason as to *why* these entries should be removed. For that reason I didn't remove any of them and just left my registry the way it was. I give this app a 2/5. It's buggy, and offers nothing that hasn't already been done better.
