Publisher's Description

SETI@home, a screen saver, is a complicated piece of scientific analytical software. It performs a large set of mathematical operations on the data that you are downloading from the Berkeley SETI program. What you see on the screen gives you only a glimpse of what is happening inside your computer.

The GUI version of the SETI client (the screen saver) is much slower than the command line version, but most people will prefer it, as they are running the client because it's COOL... The program does NOT tell you what your motherboard is doing, or what the transistors do (how silly), but the graphs it displays are a 3D representation of the SIGNAL you are working on...

A great way to analyze data input through your motherboard. This program gives a tremendous comprehensive look at how data is transferred through the transistors of the processor when transferring data from an outside source. Best beta program I have seen since CuteZip.

I like the cmdline version. I don't care much for the gfx.
Win 2000 sure does a good job of letting 2 Seti@home instances run off one processor. Now, all I need to do is find a task for the other one. :-)

Not only is it fun to search for E.T., but it's a great way to show off the computing power of your school/workplace. Run it on all the pc's you got and watch your rank rise. A tip: for the most power, disable the screen saver and have it run minimized- no pretty graphics though.

I have this running under Win98 at work, and Win2000 at home. This works wonderfully well under both, and the idea that I can help out SETI by allowing it to better allocate funds to something other than processing time makes me feel like a real contributor.

If you don't mind a program using up most of your available memory, or if u have over 64 MB RAM, this would be a nice screen saver to have.
