Once you find the right combination of codecs and formats, container it works better than anything else I've tried.

Too bad for OpenCandy.

Anyone tested out the compression of the Dirac video format?
Version: v2011.build.49 (July 1st 2011) has added support for Dirac in MKV and other containers (AVI and MOV). (encode, play and render)

I don't see why most people complain about the interface.
You need it to do it's job right. All the rest doesn't matter so much.
I don't think it's such a big step down compared to other programs in terms of GUI as other reviewers make it out to be.

Yeah, it includes the same "Open Candy" spyware that MediaInfo does, which is why it's being tagged as malware.

The interface is, to my mind, pretty awful. I don't see any reason to use this over Handbrake, HDConvertToX, or MeGUI. And really, who wants their encoder to be their media player, especially when it's this ugly?

Fatally flawed concept and execution saddled with spyware that doesn't even ask before it runs. I don't see how it gets much worse.

I've been using this program for a while and I haven't noticed any problems with it so far. It runs perfect on my machine together with windows 7. I don't think it's difficult to use, you get a lot of help by just pointing at something which I think is a good thing for users who aren't that experienced. This program is better than a lot of other similar programs so I will shurly continue using it a lot.

For a free program, it's so so, A million options makes it difficult to use. I only run it inside a vmware virtual windows 2k and every so often I try a new version. This lets me go back quickly, as I need only copy a directory to restore.

I am running version 37 because all the later versions have more problems, especially a memory leak that is getting worse. With version 41 it's about 3mb per file. I use it to convert lots of small clips into a consistent format so I can make one movie file (using another combiner program). With the later versions, the leak always causes my conversions to stop with an out of memory error.

The forum doesn't work either, it never connects. I use firefox. So, there's no known way to report problems.

Oh my god, talk about being a baby. It took me all of 12 seconds to find the download link for the app on the company's website. You've got issues dude. Comment on the application instead of crying over the website; talk about issues and being a cry baby!!

The app works for me. I've never heard of it before but I'm giving it a try.

My 12 seconds of searching for the download link worked well.

I have been using SUPER © 2010.build.38 for awhile now. I downloaded the new version and it wouldn't work right. When I would tell it to encode it would quit running. I changed settings and still same thing. I I tried to go back to build.38 and it won't load now. So I can't seem to get either version to work now. I will wait on a fix or something but I still give this program a high rating. (Could be something on my machine)

I have a problem with this new version SUPER © 2010.build.37, because on one hand it seems to work very well, but that on the other hand I've had "Hitman Pro" detect its main file "super.exe" as a trojan, and when sending this same super.exe to virustotal.com, I've noticed 10 out of 41 positive anti-spyware diagnostics. All this is new to this new version.
I've had it removed until further investigation.

This USED to be a good program, but lately all i get is that it can't load but still does. It then start to encode and comes back with an error saying it too too long and it's stopped the encoding.

When I first used this program it took me about 10 years just to find the download link. Now I have to come to this site all the time just to get this junk updated. The converter is okay Not the best but good for free. Tips make a big download button on your site so we can get this updated buy Christmas or Christmas Eve!!!

Tried GX.Transcoder and loved it (well, some years ago ...)
... but it often crashed and needed to be re-installed before each usage :-(
... then found FormatFactory and would give it "ten" points,
... but there is a limit of 128 kbps, unfortunately :-(
SUPER obviously has no limits, but an awful GUI and is a little bit complicated to work with - I had to change the screen resolution first to find the startbutton at the bottom :-(

Tryed it and not liked it cause of the clumsy design taking us 15 years back, after McFunsoft Video Convert Master was causing troubles with converting files. I went on using AllDj Video Converter Premium and was and is working fine except for converting MOV, Agile MOV Video Splitter helped me out..

Software is good, one of the best media converters. Needs a more 'modern' look and feel though.
And I hope the program sees this next part. Your web site sucks. Every time I try to tell people to download your product, they can't find it on your site. I have been in IT 20+ years and even myself get frustrated. You need one page, screen shots, decription, and a big a** download button.

The program itself gets 5 stars from me. But the website/download link are hideous!

Back to the program, the interface is ugly, and it won't stay on my secondary monitor no matter what, keeps jumping back to the primary screen, very annoying. But the universal conversion is 1st rate, best I have used. Super + DVD Shrink has now become my defecto video conversion combo.

But pls, if the developer lurk around here, fix your site! It's very easy to make people suspicious of your site because it's so cluttered with useless junk, this program deserves to be better known!

Like others are saying very suspicious..when it tries to phone home I deny it, and seems to run for me ok but trying to get the new update from their page is not possible for me. Something is blocking me from getting it, must be for the good, which is too bad as it's the only program I know of that is free and converts so many formats.

It's impossible to download this, I tried IE and Opera. The links posted by other users don't work either, they get me to the same page.

I think this is a scam, they post it so they can have this page which is suspiciously full of adsense ads, and im sure more than one of the people reviewing are part of it.

It should be deleted from this site, real program or not, just because of the ad-filled and misleading page.

Not perfect, but worth a "5" since there's not much out there that works very well in this category for any price. (compare to Mediacoder)

What's with the comments?
First, this program is FREE so no one's making money off of it.

Second, don't give a low rating because of downloading issues. If you READ the website and follow it down there are FOUR links given for the download. It's easy to find. (It's 26.8MB; I use Getright to download and it works fine)

I'm getting a little fed up with people making silly comments and giving low squares while probably not even having reviewed the product.

love it. just works TM.
it includes all the codecs/does not depend on direct show. (but can make use of it)
thats enough for a good rating, for me.

but it should not be skinned, since all skins are equally ugly. and tooltips inherit OS font color, but do not inherit OS background color wich may result in e.g. yellow on yellow

also the gui will freeze regularly (during action, temporarly) wich can cause problems with shell tools that monitor windows (blocking the shell as well). guess it needs multithreading.

the window behaves weird: alt-tab icon will be displayed even if window was has been hidden.

there is a message box that shows up with a delay of a few seconds. asking for a choice (divx5). by then i have minnimized the window, falsely expecting the conversion to be in progress. it should take on top-focus!

caption string is not truncated to wide of window.

pretty bad GUI for a GUI-only tool ;)

I experience some minor problems like occasional drop list flickering or crashes when WMV files are encoded to mp4 and the DirectShow filters are on (I am not sure if it is not a problem of Windows and/or WMV) but anyway SUPER is definately the best conversion tool I met to date ( believe me that I made a lot of experiments with different tools). Basically, it means that I can reduce all the encoding tools to two: FairUse Wizard for DVD to x.264 encodings and SUPER 2007 for converting.

PS MPEG Streamclip would be a good freeware tool similar to SUPER but it is damn slow (utilizes Apple codecs).

I had no problem finding the download links using Firefox 2 with JavaScript enabled for their site. In any case, I wish FileForum reviewers would stick to rating software, not websites.

LuBoc, at the top of the page you will see a Freeware tag. When you put your mouse pointer over it it will show you where to go to download... almost! Then, when you click on download it sends you at the bottom of the page where you will see "Start Downloading SUPER ©". That sends you to a page were you will see IN RED "SUPER © is a totally FREE Multimedia software to" and at the end of that line, IN BLUE, "download and use". As unbelievable as it might seem that sends you right to those download links. This is completely insane. The program itself is worth a 5 but I'll keep my prior rating of 3 untill they make their website more "user friendly". Hope that helped.

This is a nice piece of kit.

Converts almost anything to anything. No fuss.
No more looking for a program to convert DivX to DVD and another to convert DVD to XViD, or even DVD to mp3, or quickime to wav, or Streaming video to..... well you get the idea.

Everything under one roof and its at a very low price of.... oh right, they aren't charging you a penny. Its open source and its FREE.

You need a reason NOT to get this ?
