This instant messenger brings to us a whole new concept of internet communication. It’s basically a video chat program, but it doesn’t use captured video from a web-cam – it uses an avatar – a virtual personality that resembles you.
The point is that it doesn’t have to resemble you, it can resemble Robert Plant or Hillary Clinton, or can just be your unique creation. And you can create an avatar using a photograph of yourself or someone else.
The person you are talking to through SeeStorm hears your voice (like in any other web-phone program, except this one is full-duplex) and sees your avatar. The avatar can show your emotions, only three types for now: “smile”, “surprise” and “angry”. So you get an impression you are really using a video-phone, except this allows you to hide your identity and protects your privacy.
And this is much more fun too – there’s already an extensive collection of avatars available and new ones are added every day. But you really should design your own – it’s a really exciting process. Once you’ve realized how SeeStorm works, the rest is simple. As with any other instant manager, you register, get your UIN, invite/find friends and create a buddy list. SeeStorm offers you all these basic features as well as text chat and various wizards to make your life easier.
Be sure to check it out because it’s something really new and really intriguing.
