Publisher's Description
Skyscraper is a fully-featured, modular, 3D realtime building simulator, powered by the Scalable Building Simulator (SBS) engine. The main feature SBS provides is a very elaborate and realistic elevator simulator, but also simulates general building features such as walls, floors, stairs, shaftwork and more. Many more things are planned, including gaming support (single and network multiplayer), and a graphical building designer. Skyscraper is written in C++ and uses the OGRE graphics engine, Bullet for collisions and physics, Caelum for realistic sky, FMOD for sound, the wxWidgets GUI library, and is multiplatform. The current versions aim for a future 2.0 release.

The textures have a very very low resolution. While they don't look as bad as Doom II (bad comparison, Doom II is the #1 game of all times), they do get extremely blurry when the 3d engine draws them. This goes for the ground, walls, floors, etc. Since this is a graphical simulation, graphics are very important. I'd rate 3.55, but can't ;)

well well, maybe a good idea, but the graphics... i'd just like to hint even doom2 looked better :)

it's a good concept. like the windows. bookmarked the page. like to see it grow. not sure if remote controlled planes would be a bad feature.

Well I'll rate my own program, and clear up some questions people have had. First of all, the program is still in the main developmental stage (probably should still be in alpha) and is still lacking a lot of the proposed functionality. The graphics will eventually be greatly enhanced, but for now I'm trying to focus on getting the basic overall simulation working smoothly. Furniture objects will be added later, and many more extreme details. It will also be turned into a game once the code reaches maturity, and will feature network multiplayer deathmatch-like concepts. The building it simulates was designed by me a few years ago. So, don't expect this to be a full-scale application just yet - it's getting there :)

First off, you'll need to download the TrueVision3D 6.0 Runtime from his site to be able to run this. Overall, the concept is pretty neat. Being able to walk around a exact replica of a skyscraper is pretty nifty. The only thing that would make this a tad cooler would be a) a huge graphical improvement ... the current graphics might have been impressed in ... 1997 ... not 2003 b) better controls? customizable keys, mouse sensitivity, etc. Still cool to download and play around with for a bit though.
