An excellent tool for those who need, say, torrents running, while watching streaming video.

Don't waste your time downloading this garbage. After I downloaded it, I couldn't get connected to the internet, I couldn't watch most of my DVDs anymore, and it caused my system to crash. I would rather wait a long time for videos to buffer than have this useless trash in my computer. SpeedBit got lucky that the lowest rating I could give it was a one, otherwise it would've got a -5 like it deserves.

Was great, No adware, malware and did as promised.
Did have a problem when trying to change what you were watching (kept downloading the old stream) to another video.
Recent update has destroyed its effectiveness and had to be removed to ensure system stability.
Problems were-
It was unable to connect most of the time.
When it did connect it was saying there was an update.
When it tried to open Firefox to update, Firefox developed a bug that prevented it from opening web pages.
- Bad Jojo.
Pity as it WAS a great little program

Count me as another who only gets a BSoD system crash with this. Specifically, a stop 8E on sbbotdi.sys - or even more specifically:

STOP: 0x0000008E (0xC0000005,0xA78B6AB6,0xA753E9D0,0x00000000)

sbbotdi.sys - Address A78B6AB6 base at A78B4000, DateStamp 475bb24b

XP SP3 with a 2.8 GHz Intel P4 and 1 Gig RAM.

Happened at the end of the install and after every subsequent reboot. Had to uninstall it in Safe Mode to fix the system.

This is a real bummer since I do quite a lot of video streaming from some of the sites this supports and I was hoping it might help with some of the slower ones (like Dailymotion, tudou, and sometimes Veoh).

Normally I'd give it a 1 after this, but since it is openly stated as potentially unstable beta code and since the concept is excellent and since it works well for others, I'll do an Emeril and bump it up a notch to 2. ;-)

I hope this bug gets resolved and I can try the program someday. For now I'll try submitting a report through their support link since their "Discuss" link doesn't actually point to a discussion...

July 12 Update:

On July 8, I reported the crash details through the support form here:

http://www.videoaccelerator.com/support/

and to my surprise I received a response about 12 hours later asking me to submit a memory dump for analysis (which I did that same day - through a service they have for uploading large files).

I haven't heard back since submitting the dump, but hopefully someone will eventually look at it. I did see that they released a new beta version (2.2.4.9) on July 10, but it still crashes on my system - so I assume that release coming so soon after my report was just coincidence.

If they ever get back to me and/or fix the problem, I'll update this review (or post a new one). In the meantime, I would advise anyone else seeing blue-screen crashes to submit a report through the support form I linked to above. More reports might increase the possibility for a fix.

Don't listen to peoples stupid reviews.
This program works and it has nothing to do whether you have a good ISP or not, its about how many connections are made to the YouTube servers.
This program really does accelerate streaming not just from YouTube but from like over 100 sites i read on the website.
this program is not full of ads either like people have posted, it prompts you to install the Ask toolbar but you can opt out of installing that.
does exactly what it says it does!

the last version gave me the blue screen of death, several times, I'm not just talking out of my ass, several minidumps I have identify a .sys driver from this as the culprit, I wouldn't mind seeing a changelog to see if they've fixed that.

Pros: I watch live TV via my internet connection and often have a torrent application running in the background. With cFosSpeed this works perfectly and without any manual intervention. Without cFos this combination of usage is absolutely hopeless. https://run3az.com
If you're not a P2P user or a gamer then cFos may not be for you, but why would you feel the need to criticise and condemn it as useless?

Cons: It's everything but vaporware. You should try it, before "reviewing" it ;-)
Well, at least I can cleary see the differences with and without.

Bottom Line: An excellent tool for those who need, say, torrents running, while watching streaming video.

Screwed up sleep on my laptop. It would not wake up. Tried to reboot, got a blue screen of death. It ain't worth it. Did not work all that well anyway.

Had to boot in safe mode just to remove it.

Acer laptop with all patches installed. XP sp2.

4 instead of 5 because I find it does what it says on the tin very well, but I occasionally find it has a horrendous memory leak (on pc startup, without having been to any video sites), and the 'latest changes' suggests they're more interested in adding new stuff than fixing it.

It works. Has a few bugs and isn't perfect, but it lives up to their promise.

Haven't faced any ad-ware/spyware related problems with it.

Hey!! My NOD32 said that it's a Virus!!!
----------------------------------------

For the first time I use this program, I was really surprised for its speed of downloading.

However, after few videos, I thought the program has an important bug. Which make the YouTube's videos stop downloading for most of the time. Finally, the speed become slower than the original speed.

This program works...
not exactly sure how it works, but it does accelerate the videos on youtube, and a couple other sites.
i upload at full speed on torrent sites and still this accelerator allows me to stream the movies up to 500KB/s usually they only stream at about 20KB/s

Works perfectly, videos play with higher frame per second and they load much faster, i tested with and without the program and the same video will load way faster with it. No problems so far. Ad-aware found no spyware after installation.

What the hell are you talking about Spyware? i just installed this and nothing else was installed except the program that should have been installed, there are no popup ads or banners or anything, NO spyware, so shut up and stop posting sh*t reviews about this has spyware when it DOES NOT. Anyway, the program actually works quite well, it has really improved my experience with YouTube actually, gets on my nerves when it freezes, it doesn't now, good program

i would have rated this a 4, because it is not perfect, but i changed it to a 5 because people are rating it a 1 for no reason, they didn't even install the program that is what pisses me off, if you had actually installed and used the program you'd know there was NO SPYWARE damn liars trying to make people think that loser

How come no one thought of this before ?!?!?!
An amazing small utility!!!
Even if u use a high speed broadband connection (like me) - it gets slowed down when doing bandwith-intensive tasks like Bittorrent, emule, windows updates and even online games.
And usually, youTube is the very first place you will notice the problem!
When my kid sis plays WoW, my youtube videos starts to get jerky almost instantaneously.

But not anymore - The guys at speedbit had really done it! I hope the official version stays free as well!

sharkooo reviewed v1.1.3.5 Beta on Jan 25, 2007

Well...i don't usually like any kind of accelerators
but this one is not bothering and it does quite a good job. the search option is really useful.
I'm keeping that on my comp.

sarreq

sarreq reviewed v1.1.3.5 Beta on Jan 24, 2007

If it bypasses Flash's video routines, then I would think it would accelerate the video. bandwidth helps, but it's not the only factor for video, there's also the codec's playback efficiency. I haven't actually tested it yet, so I'll refrain from rating up or down, but don't go around claiming it doesn't work without testing it yourself.

--edit(20mins and 5 problem YT vids later--
OK, so I've no idea if there's anything going on codec wise, but the program itself is a multi-streming protocol, the way things like FlashGet, LeechGet and GetRight work, except it's designed for Flash contained video, and it works very VERY well for that, so, updating my rating now to a 5.

aking80

aking80 reviewed v1.1.3.5 Beta on Jan 24, 2007

Haha I agree, get a better internet connection if streaming is slow... 3rd party software isn't likely to help.

waynebike

waynebike reviewed v1.1.3.5 Beta on Jan 24, 2007

This thing is actually pretty cool, it does exactly what it says it does, speeds up the download of youtube videos.
